Summary

***Candidates must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time, permanent basis. StaffRight Associates and our clients do not provide visa sponsorship for this position.

The Opportunity

StaffRight Associates is seeking a forward-thinking Controls Engineer to spearhead the evolution of advanced manufacturing automation. In this role, you will act as the technical catalyst for designing and optimizing cutting-edge automated machinery, transforming manual operations into high-efficiency robotic and control systems.

This position offers a rare blend of autonomy and structured mentorship, making it an ideal launchpad for an ambitious engineer looking to master sophisticated automation architectures and leave a lasting footprint on complex production ecosystems.

What You’ll Do

  • Architect and deploy robust, PLC-based automation architectures using industry-standard Allen-Bradley platforms to power sophisticated machinery.

  • Champion rapid-response, hands-on diagnostics on the manufacturing floor to resolve intricate electrical and control system anomalies, providing critical intervention during urgent downtime events.

  • Drive continuous modernization by identifying labor-intensive operations and engineering automated interventions utilizing robotics, servo mechanisms, and advanced pneumatics.

  • Design detailed electrical control panel layouts, meticulously selecting industrial components and engineering optimal motion profiles (servo vs. pneumatic) to maximize precision.

  • Synthesize clean, highly functional PLC logic and intuitive HMI interfaces while enforcing rigorous version control and documentation standards.

  • Collaborize with cross-functional allies in Mechanical Engineering, Maintenance, and Operations to perform root-cause analysis and implement permanent engineering solutions.

  • Execute flawless equipment commissioning, operational turnarounds, and optimization initiatives across specialized technology suites, including lasers, forming presses, and robotic cells.

  • Deconstruct complex electrical schematics, wiring layouts, and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) to guarantee strict adherence to regulatory safety mandates and internal corporate protocols.

What You Bring

  • Academic Foundation: A Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a closely aligned technical discipline.

  • Technical Aptitude: Proven familiarity with—or a aggressive desire to master—the Allen-Bradley ecosystem, including Studio 5000 software architecture.

  • Tactical Problem-Solving: A diagnostic-first mindset with a proven ability to work actively on the production floor, troubleshooting integrated mechanical, electrical, and software elements.

  • Systemic Thinking: Natural capability to analyze how disparate mechanical components and software code interact within a holistic automated environment.

  • Professional Drive: An authentic passion for automation technologies, a strong desire for continuous learning, and an eager openness to leverage mentorship within a collaborative team culture.

  • Blueprints Literacy: Absolute proficiency in translating and interpreting intricate electrical blueprints, control schematics, and technical drawings.

Compensation & Total Rewards

Core Compensation

  • Target Salary Range: Highly competitive annual base compensation structured between $89,000 and $125,000, tailored precisely to experience, technical depth, and capabilities.

Performance & Equity Incentives

  • Performance Reviews: Eligibility for regular merit-based increases tied directly to project execution, innovation milestones, and technical growth.

Health & Wellness Perks

  • Comprehensive Coverage: Premium medical, dental, and vision insurance packages designed to protect you and your dependents.

  • Wellness Infrastructure: Access to comprehensive mental health services, employee assistance programs (EAP), and wellness initiatives.

Future Planning

  • Retirement Infrastructure: Robust 401(k) savings plan equipped with a competitive corporate matching contribution to secure your financial future.

  • Security & Growth: Company-sponsored life insurance policies and ongoing opportunities for professional development reimbursement.

Work-Life Balance

  • Time Off: Generous paid time off (PTO) allocation alongside paid company holidays to ensure consistent rejuvenation.

  • Operational Structure: A fully onsite, high-energy manufacturing environment located in the Upstate New York region, offering stable, structured hours.
