Job Description
We are seeking an Application Architect III to join our dynamic team supporting critical Hadoop platforms. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Cloudera Hadoop stack administration, SQL performance tuning, and large-scale database platform architecture and a proven ability to optimize platform performance, ensure reliability in 24x7 production, and drive resilient data architectures.
Responsibilities:
- Support and operate multiple Cloudera Hadoop platforms in a 24x7 production environment.
- Proactively monitor database and platform performance, troubleshoot issues, and remediate incidents.
- Optimize queries, resolve performance bottlenecks, and improve existing schemas while designing new ones.
- Create, configure, and manage Cloudera clusters and related services.
- Establish and maintain change control, testing processes, and approvals for database modifications.
- Develop and execute enterprise backup and restore procedures, including failover and recovery testing.
- Create and maintain documentation, runbooks, and troubleshooting playbooks.
- Architect and support large-scale production database platforms with an emphasis on reliability and performance.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 6+ years of hands-on experience with Cloudera implementations in production.
- Full Cloudera software stack expertise, including cluster configuration, monitoring, and tuning.
- Exceptional SQL development and performance tuning skills.
- Experience with Cloudera system metrics, optimization strategies, and capacity planning.
- Proficiency with Linux system-level metrics and common utilities for diagnostics and troubleshooting.
- Mastery of scripting languages such as Python and Bash.
- Understanding of virtualization and clustered environments.
- BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Strong communication skills with an ability to mentor and collaborate.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience designing and executing disaster recovery, failover, and resilience testing for data platforms.
- Background in regulated financial services environments.
