Firewall Engineer

Job Summary

We are seeking a Firewall Engineer to design, implement, monitor, and maintain enterprise firewall infrastructure. The ideal candidate will ensure network security by managing firewall policies, troubleshooting security issues, and supporting secure connectivity across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Configure, deploy, and manage firewall solutions.
• Create, modify, and review firewall security policies and access rules.
• Monitor firewall performance, logs, and security alerts.
• Troubleshoot firewall, VPN, and network connectivity issues.
• Implement and maintain VPN (Site-to-Site and Remote Access) solutions.
• Perform firewall upgrades, patches, and firmware updates.
• Conduct security assessments and firewall rule reviews.
• Work with network, security, and application teams to support business requirements.
• Ensure compliance with organizational security standards and best practices.
• Document firewall configurations, network diagrams, and operational procedures.
• Participate in incident response and security investigations when required.

Required Skills

• Good understanding of TCP/IP, routing, switching, NAT, VLANs, and DNS.
• Experience with firewall technologies such as:
  • Palo Alto Networks
  • Fortinet FortiGate
  • Cisco ASA/Firepower
  • Check Point
• Knowledge of VPN technologies (IPSec, SSL VPN).
• Familiarity with network security concepts such as IDS/IPS, URL filtering, and threat prevention.
• Ability to analyze logs and troubleshoot network/security issues.
• Understanding of security best practices and firewall policy management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Relevant certifications are a plus:
  • Palo Alto PCNSA/PCNSE
  • Fortinet NSE/FCP
  • Cisco CCNA/CCNP Security
  • Check Point CCSA/CCSE

Preferred Skills

• Experience with cloud firewalls (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform).
• Knowledge of SIEM tools and security monitoring.
• Familiarity with scripting (PowerShell, Python, or Bash) for automation.
• Experience with change management and ITIL processes.
