Summary

Location: Hybrid in Austin, TX (On-site 4 days per week)

Job Type: 3 months (strong possibility for extension)

About the job

As a hands-on Lead Developer on our Online Security Technologies team, you will drive the design, development, and operational excellence of a mission-critical enterprise authentication platform. In this role, your time will be balanced equally between high-level system architecture and hands-on coding (50% design, 50% development). You will collaborate with a distributed engineering team in an Agile environment to build secure, scalable solutions that manage identity and access across internal infrastructure and external ecosystem partners, ensuring resilient, high-quality releases.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the end-to-end technical design, development, and deployment of software products across QA, UAT, and Production stages.
  • Partner with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, and cross-functional teams (Project Management, QA, Technology Operations) to define requirements, decompose user stories, prioritize technical backlogs, and provide accurate sizing estimates.
  • Architect, prototype, and implement high-availability, fault-tolerant server-side solutions for enterprise identity, credential management, and authentication services.
  • Establish and champion engineering standards through regular design sessions and peer code reviews with onshore and offshore engineering teams.
  • Uphold software quality and continuous delivery by implementing Test-Driven Development (TDD), automated integration testing, and CI/CD automation.
  • Proactively identify technical risks, remove blockers, and implement effective mitigation strategies to safeguard delivery schedules.
  • Troubleshoot complex production issues through deep log analysis, metrics tracking, and observability dashboards.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, fostering continuous learning in software engineering best practices and modern architectural patterns.

Minimum qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7+ years of hands-on software development experience building robust server-side APIs and distributed applications using C# and .NET technologies.
  • Proven experience designing and implementing scalable, high-throughput systems operating under high availability requirements.
  • Solid background working with Identity and Access Management (IAM) systems and authentication protocols (e.g., Kerberos, certificate-based authentication, modern identity providers).
  • Hands-on experience with automated testing frameworks for RESTful web services (handling JSON/XML) and practicing Test-Driven Development (TDD) in an Agile/Lean setting.
  • Experience with source control, issue tracking, and build automation tools (e.g., Git, Bitbucket, Jira, Bamboo).

Preferred qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in a technical lead or mentoring capacity, guiding engineering teams and driving modern architecture adoption.
  • Experience with NoSQL and distributed data stores, such as MongoDB or Aerospike.
  • Working knowledge of cloud platforms, specifically Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform).
  • Familiarity with AI-driven development workflows and Specification-Driven Development methodologies.
  • Hands-on experience with telemetry and log analysis tools such as Splunk for diagnosing complex runtime issues.
  • Domain knowledge in financial services, fintech, or brokerage security environments.
