Summary

We are looking for a seasoned AEM Architect to lead the architecture, design and delivery of Adobe Experience Manager solutions for our retail clients. The role owns the end-to-end technical vision for content-driven, high-traffic retail websites and digital experiences, integrating AEM with commerce platforms, search, personalization and the wider Adobe Experience Cloud.

The ideal candidate combines deep AEM expertise with a strong understanding of retail business models such as product catalogs, promotions, store locators, loyalty and omnichannel journeys, and can engage confidently with client CIOs, digital leaders and marketing stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Architecture & Solution Design

•      Define the end-to-end AEM solution architecture, covering content model, component library, templates, workflows, multi-site manager (MSM) and multi-language strategy.

•      Design scalable, secure and high-performing architecture on AEM as a Cloud Service (AEMaaCS), and lead migrations from AEM 6.x on-premise or Adobe Managed Services to the cloud.

•      Architect integrations between AEM and commerce platforms (Adobe Commerce/Magento, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, commercetools, SAP Commerce) through CIF or headless APIs.

•      Define headless and hybrid delivery approaches using Content Fragments, Experience Fragments, GraphQL APIs and SPA Editor (React/Angular) or Edge Delivery Services.

•      Drive integrations with Adobe Analytics, Adobe Target, Adobe Launch (Tags), Adobe Real-Time CDP, AEM Assets/Dynamic Media and third-party systems such as PIM, DAM, search (Algolia, Coveo), OMS and CRM.

Technical Leadership & Delivery

•      Lead and mentor AEM backend, frontend and DevOps teams across onsite and offshore delivery models.

•      Establish coding standards, reusable component frameworks, code review practices and governance for the AEM platform.

•      Own non-functional requirements such as performance, caching strategy (Dispatcher, CDN/Fastly/Akamai), SEO, accessibility (WCAG 2.1) and security.

•      Set up and optimize CI/CD pipelines using Cloud Manager, Maven, Git and automated testing.

•      Troubleshoot complex production issues and provide root-cause analysis and remediation plans.

Client & Business Engagement

•      Act as the trusted technical advisor to client stakeholders, translating retail business goals (conversion, personalization, speed to market, content agility) into technical roadmaps.

•      Support pre-sales activities including solution proposals, estimations, architecture presentations and RFP responses.

•      Run discovery workshops, platform assessments and modernization roadmaps for retail clients.

Required Skills & Experience

Technical Skills

•      AEM Platform: 6+ years of hands-on AEM experience (AEM 6.4/6.5 and AEM as a Cloud Service), including Sites, Assets and Forms where relevant.

•      Core Stack: Strong Java/J2EE, OSGi, Apache Sling, JCR/Apache Jackrabbit Oak, Sling Models, HTL (Sightly) and Apache Felix.

•      Delivery & Ops: Dispatcher configuration, CDN integration, Cloud Manager, Maven, Git and Jenkins or similar CI/CD tools.

•      Headless: Experience with Content Fragments, GraphQL, REST APIs and SPA Editor or headless frontends (React, Next.js).

•      Integrations: Proven experience integrating AEM with commerce platforms, PIM and the Adobe Experience Cloud (Analytics, Target, Launch, RT-CDP).

•      Cloud: Working knowledge of Azure or AWS, microservices and API-led integration patterns.

Domain Experience

•      Minimum 3+ years delivering AEM solutions for retail, eCommerce or consumer brands.

•      Good understanding of retail journeys such as product listing and detail pages, promotions, campaigns, store locator, loyalty programs and seasonal peak-traffic readiness.

•      Experience with multi-brand, multi-region and multi-language retail sites is highly desirable.

Preferred Qualifications

•      Adobe Certified Expert or Master: AEM Sites Architect / AEM Sites Developer certification.

•      Exposure to AEM Edge Delivery Services (Franklin) and Universal Editor.

•      Experience with AEM migration projects (on-premise or AMS to AEMaaCS).

•      Exposure to GenAI capabilities in the Adobe ecosystem (e.g. Adobe Sensei, GenStudio) is a plus.

•      Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.

•      Must-haves: 6+ years AEM, architect-level ownership on at least 2 large implementations, AEM as a Cloud Service, retail or eCommerce client experience.

•      Screen for: hands-on Java/OSGi/Sling depth (not purely design), commerce integration experience, and strong client-facing communication.

•      Good to have: Adobe AEM Architect certification and AEMaaCS migration experience.
