Project Overview
The Project Manager Project Lead will support an enterprise IT department by managing and coordinating strategic and tactical technology initiatives. Reporting to IT leadership, this role is responsible for overseeing project management activities associated with agency-wide information technology projects.
The Project Manager will coordinate project deliverables, schedules, and resources with internal teams, external stakeholders, and business partners. This role may also serve as a co-lead or IT coordinator for projects led by other departments or the Project Management Office (PMO).
Additionally, the position will collaborate with the PMO to develop and standardize project management methodologies, processes, and documentation to align with enterprise project management standards.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management & Coordination
Serve as the IT Project Manager for assigned technology projects.
For business-led initiatives, manage the IT-related project deliverables and coordination.
Manage projects from initiation through completion to ensure successful delivery of project objectives.
Coordinate project activities with internal teams, stakeholders, and external partners.
Project Planning & Execution
Work with project teams to define and document:
Project scope and charter
Budget (where applicable)
Resources and staffing
Project schedules and milestones
Risks and mitigation strategies
Project deliverables
Establish regular project meeting cadences to monitor schedule and budget performance.
Track project milestones, deliverables, issues, risks, and task assignments.
Escalate risks or issues to appropriate stakeholders when necessary.
Communication & Reporting
Facilitate project meetings and collaborate with stakeholders to prepare meeting agendas and documentation.
Produce meeting notes, project status reports, and updates for leadership and stakeholders.
Maintain an accurate master IT project list and project documentation repository.
Prepare project presentations and materials for steering committee and strategic planning meetings.
Project Closeout & Documentation
Ensure projects are closed out in a structured and timely manner.
Document lessons learned, project outcomes, and final project artifacts.
Ensure all project documentation is completed and properly archived.
Process & Methodology Development
Collaborate with IT leadership and the Project Management Office (PMO) to develop and document standardized IT project management methodologies and processes.
Assist in implementing enterprise project management standards and governance practices.
Required Education
Bachelor s degree in Business Management, Public Administration, Information Technology, or a related field.
Required Skills (Ranked by Importance)
5+ years of project management experience.
3+ years of experience managing enterprise-level IT projects.
3+ years of experience with project budgeting and financial tracking.
Preferred Skills
Experience managing system modernization or technology transformation initiatives.
Experience working within public sector or large enterprise environments.
Experience collaborating with external vendors or implementation partners.
Active PMP (Project Management Professional) certification.
Experience with ServiceNow or similar enterprise service management platforms.
