Summary

Job Description: Windows Engineer

We are looking for a Windows Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the administration, configuration, and optimization of Windows environments, ensuring high availability, performance, and security of systems. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in Windows Server management, troubleshooting, and automation, along with experience supporting complex infrastructure environments.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in Windows Server administration (2008/2012/2016/2019/2022).
  • Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automation and system management.
  • Strong understanding of network protocols and system monitoring tools.
  • Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and IIS.
  • Knowledge of backup and disaster recovery strategies and tools.
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) is a plus.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Windows Server Administration:
    • Manage and support Microsoft Windows Server environments (2008/2012/2016/2019/2022).
    • Perform routine system maintenance, patch management, and upgrades to ensure systems are secure and up-to-date.
    • Configure, troubleshoot, and optimize Windows operating systems to ensure maximum uptime and performance.
  2. System Monitoring and Troubleshooting:
    • Monitor system health, performance, and security of Windows-based infrastructure.
    • Respond to and resolve system performance issues, server crashes, and failures.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network issues in Windows environments.
  3. Automation and Scripting:
    • Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate system administration tasks and improve operational efficiency.
    • Write and maintain batch files, PowerShell scripts, and other automation tools to streamline server management tasks.
  4. File and Network Management:
    • Manage file servers and ensure data availability, integrity, and security.
    • Ensure network connectivity and troubleshoot related issues in Windows environments.
  5. Backup and Disaster Recovery:
    • Implement and manage data backup solutions, ensuring timely and reliable backups.
    • Coordinate and execute disaster recovery plans to restore critical systems and applications in case of failure.
  6. Security and Compliance:
    • Ensure that Windows systems are compliant with organizational and industry security standards.
    • Implement and monitor security controls, including firewalls, antivirus, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
  7. Collaboration and Documentation:
    • Collaborate with other IT teams, including network engineers, database administrators, and application support teams, to ensure seamless operations.
    • Create and maintain documentation for system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
  8. Application and Software Support:
    • Support a variety of applications running on Windows environments, ensuring smooth operation and integration.
    • Work with third-party vendors and developers to troubleshoot and resolve application-related issues.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) or Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) certifications.
  • Experience with monitoring tools like Splunk, Dynatrace, or similar.
  • Previous experience with security practices and tools in Windows environments.
