IT SPECIALIST (INFOSEC)

Summary

You will serve as an IT Specialist (INFOSEC) in the Cybersecurity Engineering Branch; Intelligence & Cyber Technology Division of NAVSURFWARCENACT DAM NECK VA.

This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. NT-05 is equivalent to GS-13/14.

This position is salary capped at GS-13, Step 10 (currently $140,426). See "Additional Information" section.

Duties

Help

• You will provide expert cybersecurity, Information Assurance (IA) analysis, and engineering support to various projects in DN40 projects.
• You will provide Cyber Engineering for specific tasks such as Engineering Change Proposals, fleet troubleshooting, system and software installations, server and network upgrades, and system functionality testing.
• You will provide cybersecurity / IA analysis support and Assessment and Authorization support to Department of Defense (DoD) and U.S. Federal Government activities.
• You will apply security policies to meet security objectives of the system.
• You will conduct risk and vulnerability assessments of combat systems/IT systems, and provide detailed risk mitigation recommendations.
• You will participate in technical security tests and evaluations of sponsor classified and unclassified networks and/or systems to determine compliance with appropriate (IA) controls.

• This is a bargaining unit position.
• You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
• MSP/PPP applicants must currently hold the required security clearance.
• Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
• This is a Cyberspace Workforce position, work role code 722, proficiency level Intermediate. The incumbent is required to obtain and maintain qualifications in DoDM 8140.03 Cyber Workforce Qualification and Department of Navy policies.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-04 (GS-11/12 equivalent) pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing Information Technology (IT) work to coordinate or evaluate IT cybersecurity/information assurance policies, procedures, or measures to ensure they are correctly applied to IT systems, software, or networks. Examples of specialized experience may include: analyzing, assessing, and documenting cyber security/information assurance capabilities and services; establishing compliance with cyber security/information assurance requirements; identifying vulnerabilities in information technology systems, software, or networks; ensuring networks are certified and accredited for information security.

This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The NT-05 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to the GS-13 and GS-14 grade levels. The salary range shown in the announcement represents all of the positions within the band, including high-grade positions. This is not a high-grade position; therefore, the salary may be limited to a GS-13 Step 10 (currently $140,426).
