Job Overview
Our client, a leading Retail/Grocery organization, is seeking an experienced Functional Consultant to support a large-scale Talend-to-Databricks migration program. The consultant will bridge business stakeholders, data architects, Talend SMEs, and Databricks engineering teams — focusing on documenting business rules, defining functional mappings, validating migrated data, and ensuring the Databricks solution meets business requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with business stakeholders to understand processes, data requirements, and reporting needs
- Analyze existing Talend jobs, workflows, mappings, and dependencies from a functional perspective
- Prepare source-to-target mapping documents with field-level mappings and transformation rules
- Define functional validation criteria and execute data reconciliation between Talend and Databricks
- Support SIT, UAT, regression testing, and production validation
- Facilitate requirement clarification workshops and functional walkthrough sessions
- Prepare BRDs, FRDs, data dictionaries, migration assessment documents, and test scenarios
- Communicate migration status and functional risks to project leadership
Required Skills
- Talend: Talend Data Integration, understanding of Talend jobs/workflows/transformations, migration analysis
- Data & ETL: ETL/ELT concepts, SQL, relational databases, data warehousing, data mapping, data quality, reconciliation, CDC, batch/incremental processing
- Business Analysis: Functional requirements, BRD/FRD documentation, source-to-target mapping, stakeholder management
- Testing: SIT, UAT, regression testing, defect management, data validation
- Databricks/Cloud (functional understanding): Databricks, Lakehouse architecture, Bronze/Silver/Gold layers, Delta Lake concepts
- Retail/Grocery domain experience (Sales, Inventory, Promotions, Pricing, Supply Chain)
Preferred Skills
- Experience with large-scale Talend modernization programs
- Knowledge of Azure/AWS cloud environments
- Power BI or other reporting/analytics platforms
- Data governance, lineage, and metadata management
- Agile/Scrum experience
- Experience in onsite/offshore delivery models
