RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking a Middleware Engineer in West Des Moines, IA.

Overview:
We are seeking a Middleware Engineer to support and enhance enterprise integration platforms and middleware infrastructure. This role is responsible for the design, administration, automation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of middleware technologies that enable communication across critical business applications.

The ideal candidate will have experience with integration platforms such as MuleSoft, Kafka, middleware servers, cloud technologies, and DevOps automation tools. This individual will partner closely with developers, architects, infrastructure teams, and offshore resources to deliver reliable and scalable integration solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
* Design, configure, deploy, and support enterprise middleware and integration platforms
* Partner with developers and solution architects to define integration strategies and technical approaches
* Automate middleware deployments and configuration using CI/CD and Infrastructure-as-Code practices
* Administer and maintain middleware technologies, integration services, and supporting infrastructure
* Monitor platform health, capacity, performance, and availability
* Troubleshoot and resolve middleware, integration, and application connectivity issues
* Lead operational activities and coordinate support efforts with offshore teams
* Develop and execute upgrade, migration, and modernization initiatives
* Document system configurations, operational procedures, and technical standards
* Improve operational processes through automation and continuous improvement initiatives
* Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation

REQUIREMENTS:
* 5+ years of experience administering middleware, integration, or application platform technologies
* Experience supporting Windows-based server environments
* Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
* Experience working with geographically distributed teams
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Experience with middleware technologies such as:
* MuleSoft Anypoint Platform
* Apache Tomcat
* IBM WebSphere
* Microsoft IIS

Experience with DevOps and CI/CD tools such as:
* Jenkins
* Bamboo
* Ansible
* Puppet
* Terraform
* Docker
* Kubernetes

* Experience with cloud platforms including AWS and Azure
* Experience supporting MuleSoft applications, Anypoint Platform, and Anypoint Studio
* Experience with Confluent Cloud, Kafka, Kafka Connect, and ksqlDB

Experience working with:
* REST APIs
* Amazon S3
* Amazon MQ
* Azure Service Bus
* Managed File Transfer solutions
* OAuth/OIDC authentication and identity providers
* Relational databases and file-based integrations

* Knowledge of Linux administration, shell scripting, and automation
* Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and Infrastructure as Code practices

Preferred Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
* Middleware administration and platform operations

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
