AI Engineer

Role: AI Engineer (GenAI / LLM Agent Development)
Location: Houston, TX (Onsite – 5 Days/Week)
Duration: 12 months contract

Job description:
We are seeking an experienced AI Engineer to help enhance and scale an existing GenAI-powered decision-support platform. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Python, LLM application development, agentic AI systems, Kubernetes, and evaluation frameworks. This role involves building AI-driven solutions that synthesize market intelligence, proprietary data, and user feedback into actionable recommendations.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and enhance Python-based LLM agents using direct integrations with OpenAI, Claude, or similar foundation models.
• Build reasoning workflows that generate recommendations, supporting evidence, risk assessments, sensitivities, and counterarguments.
• Integrate real-time and batch data sources including pricing feeds, proprietary analytics, and business datasets.
• Deploy and support applications on Kubernetes while maintaining local development environments using Docker and Docker Compose.
• Develop human-in-the-loop feedback mechanisms to capture user ratings and commentary for continuous model improvement.
• Create and maintain ontologies and knowledge structures supporting internal and external data sources.
• Build robust evaluation frameworks including regression testing, consistency validation, and sensitivity analysis.
• Implement monitoring solutions for data quality, freshness, and reliability.
• Ensure compliance with enterprise security, governance, and data-handling standards.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with strong Python development skills.
• Hands-on experience building GenAI, LLM, or AI Agent applications.
• Experience with:
  • OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, or similar LLM platforms
  • Prompt Engineering
  • Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)
  • Agentic AI architectures
• Strong Kubernetes and Docker/Docker Compose experience.
• Experience designing LLM evaluation and testing frameworks.
• Strong data integration experience involving real-time and batch pipelines.
• Proficiency with SQL and data validation techniques.
• Experience working with sensitive or proprietary data in regulated environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in commodities trading, energy markets, quantitative finance, or analytics platforms.
• Knowledge of ontology design and knowledge representation.
• Experience implementing human-in-the-loop AI systems.
• Cloud platform experience in enterprise environments.
• Background building decision-support or analytics solutions.
