Location: Bay Area, CA - Hybrid Work
Contract Duration: 6+ Months

Own the architecture and continuous improvement of the end-to-end software release system, adopting emerging industry standards and fully supporting an AI-native software development lifecycle (AI-SDLC)

What You’ll Do
As a technical leader, you will own the architecture and continuous improvement of the end-to-end software release system, adopting emerging industry standards and fully supporting an AI-native software development lifecycle (AI-SDLC). You will drive timely, predictable, high-quality releases across engineering teams while balancing development velocity, release stability, and deployment reliability.
Key responsibilities:
  • Manage the release calendar, schedules, milestones, readiness checkpoints, and deployment coordination.
  • Coordinate across engineering, QA, DevOps, product, support, and business stakeholders; manage dependencies, competing priorities, risks, and blockers through resolution.
  • Design and evolve branching strategies, merge workflows, code-freeze policies, release candidate validation, and deployment-readiness practices.
  • Architect and improve CI/CD pipelines, build automation, merge validation, and release tooling with engineering and DevOps, delivering measurable gains in build stability, release cadence, quality, and deployment reliability.
  • Establish and enforce clearly defined release processes, governance, and accountability; continuously improve tooling, automation, and operational practices.
  • Communicate release status, risks, timelines, and decisions to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Ensure release documentation, approvals, accurate records, and post-release follow-ups are complete.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in DevOps, cloud infrastructure management, or a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of AI-native SDLC, Agile methodologies, release management, and deployment processes.
  • Deep expertise in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform, including infrastructure management and automation.
  • Advanced knowledge of branching strategies, Git/version control, release automation, and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, or CircleCI.
  • Strong programming and scripting skills in Python, Bash, Ruby, or similar languages.
  • Proficiency with Docker, Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
  • Deep understanding of networking, security, and cloud architecture, including VPCs, firewalls, load balancing, authentication, and data encryption.
  • Familiarity with monitoring, logging, performance, and alerting tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or the ELK Stack.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to resolve complex system issues and release risks.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and cross-team coordination skills, with the ability to drive accountability and maintain release discipline.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced, complex engineering environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, documentation discipline, and a results-driven focus on performance, efficiency, and scalability.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and emerging technologies and release engineering practices.
Highly Recommended Experience:
  • Technical background in DevOps, software engineering, build/release engineering, or systems operations.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with modern SaaS release and DevOps tooling, including GitHub/GitLab, CI/CD platforms, Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Argo CD, Terraform, cloud deployment services, feature flagging, observability, security scanning, and AI-enabled delivery automation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience in a global software company or high-volume production environment.
  • AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, or similar certification.
