Compensation: $120,000 - $145,000

We are seeking a hands-on Senior Data Engineer to modernize and scale our data platform. This role focuses on refactoring Postgres based business logic, building reliable data pipelines, and preparing data systems for advanced analytics and AI use cases. This is a senior individual contributor position with significant day-to-day coding and database ownership.

Key Responsibilities

• Modernize and refactor complex business logic currently embedded in Postgres functions.


• Design scalable schemas, analytics and AI ready data models, and performance optimized queries.


• Implement database partitioning, indexing, and tuning to support data growth and reliability.


• Design, build, and own production grade data pipelines from ingestion through consumption.


• Ensure data quality, testing, monitoring, and operational reliability across pipelines.


• Work directly in production systems to troubleshoot and resolve data and performance issues.

Required Qualifications

• PostgreSQL expertise is a must have, including advanced SQL and deep, production-level experience.


• 5+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering, backend engineering, or a related role.


• Experience refactoring or modernizing legacy, database-centric systems.


• Proficiency in Python or a comparable data engineering language.


• Strong understanding of ETL/ELT pipelines, data modeling, and performance optimization.

Nice to Have

• Experience preparing data platforms for AI or machine learning workloads.


• Familiarity with orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow) or cloud data platforms.


• Experience implementing automated data quality checks or pipeline testing.
