Overview

TalentFish is casting a line for an Information Security Analyst – SOC. This is a Direct Hire, fully remote opportunity supporting a growing Information Security organization.

We are seeking a security professional with a true investigative mindset — someone who understands how a SOC operates day-to-day, can analyze security data, investigate threats, and contribute to improving security operations processes.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys digging into logs, identifying patterns, responding to real-world threats, and building stronger security practices — not just monitoring dashboards or closing tickets.

What You Bring to the Role

• 4+ years of experience in Security Operations, Incident Response, Threat Detection, or a related cybersecurity discipline

• Hands-on experience investigating and responding to security incidents, including:

  • Phishing attacks

  • Business Email Compromise (BEC)

  • Malware delivery

  • Account compromise and takeover attempts

• Experience analyzing security alerts, reviewing logs, identifying anomalies, and determining root cause

• Hands-on experience with:

  • Proofpoint or similar email security platforms

  • CrowdStrike or similar Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) solutions

• Experience with SIEM platforms and query languages such as:

  • SPL

  • CQL

  • YARA-L

  • Similar security query languages

• Understanding of threat hunting concepts and experience proactively searching for suspicious activity

• Experience developing or improving SOC documentation, procedures, playbooks, and response processes

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to take raw security data and determine what is happening

• Excellent written communication skills with the ability to create clear incident reports and security documentation

Preferred Experience

• Experience supporting eDiscovery requests and insider threat investigations

• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams including Privacy, Legal, and HR

• Experience with Network Detection and Response (NDR) tools

• Knowledge of malware analysis, cyber forensics, intrusion detection, and incident response methodologies

• Scripting or automation experience using Python, PowerShell, Go, or similar languages

• Experience contributing to security automation or SOC workflow improvements

What You’ll Do

• Investigate and respond to security incidents involving phishing, malware, compromised accounts, and other cyber threats

• Analyze alerts from security tools and determine whether activity is malicious, suspicious, or benign

• Perform detailed investigations by reviewing logs, endpoint data, email activity, and security telemetry

• Conduct threat hunting activities to identify indicators of compromise and emerging threats

• Support insider threat investigations and eDiscovery requests in partnership with Privacy, Legal, and HR teams

• Develop incident reports, threat reports, and operational documentation

• Build and enhance SOC playbooks, procedures, and investigation workflows

• Monitor security operations queues and assist with incident triage and response

• Participate in an on-call rotation for critical security events

• Identify opportunities to improve detection capabilities, automation, and security operations processes

The successful candidate will be someone who:

• Can explain how they personally investigated real phishing, BEC, or account compromise incidents

• Enjoys solving security puzzles and finding the story behind the data

• Can walk through how they analyzed logs, identified patterns, and reached conclusions

• Has experience creating processes and documentation, not just following existing procedures

• Communicates clearly and works well in a collaborative team environment

Compensation Information

The expected salary range for this position is $100,000–$105,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
