We approach problems with creativity and innovation. The Newport News, VA office of Schnabel Engineering is seeking an Engineering Technician to join our growing practice. We are looking for a motivated candidate with attention to detail, a passion to continue to develop as a professional, and a desire to be part of a strong team.
Job Responsibilities:- Field observation and testing during placement of construction materials including soil, concrete, asphalt, masonry, and sprayed-on fireproofing
- Soil and concrete laboratory testing
Required Skills/Experience:- High School degree
- Valid Driver's License
- Possess good oral, written, communication, and organizational skills
- Able to perform rudimentary mathematic computations
- Attentive to detail
- Interest in working outdoors on construction sites
- Candidates must be able to lift 50 - 75 pounds on an occasional basis and be physically able to negotiate construction sites, climb ladders and work outside.
- Construction experience is preferred but not required
Other Requirements:- Ability to pass a background check which may include criminal history and motor vehicle record
- Ability to pass a pre-employment employment drug screening
