Job Summary

We are seeking a forward-thinking Principal Electrical Engineer to lead technical efforts within our commercial nuclear team. In this role, you will drive the design and integration of digital and analog electronic systems for commercial applications and Navy instrumentation and controls. Job Responsibilities

  • Design, troubleshoot, and implement digital and analog systems using A/D, D/A, microprocessors, and microcontrollers.
  • Manage obsolescence for legacy analog systems and select/justify substitute components.
  • Develop technical proposals and cost/schedule estimates for system upgrades and new installations.
  • Provide schedule and technical compliance updates for complex design programs.
  • Validate system performance through analysis, simulation, and testing.
  • Produce complete system documentation and contribute to technical proposals.
  • Apply DfX principles-including cost, test, and manufacturability-to product development.
  • Independently implement corrective actions for product and process issues.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.
  • Serve as a technical expert in communications with customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts in power electronics design processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering, advanced degree preferred
  • Proven track record of at least 8 years in the design and development of electronic systems
  • Candidates should be familiar with several of the following technologies and platforms:
    • Motorola 68000 family of processors (specifically MC68360)
    • TTL Logic
    • HC Logic
    • Xilinx ISE Development Tools
    • Altera Development Tools Actel / Microsemi SmartFusion with Libero development tools
    • PCI/PCI Express
    • VME64x
    • ECC Memory
    • FreeScale Power PC
    • TI DSP
    • Cadence OrCAD
  • Desired experience includes SEU-tolerant design, NRC regulatory guidance, commer-cial-grade item dedication, and commercial or military nuclear design standards.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and cross-functional teamwork skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
  • Proven product-development design capability and excellent problem-solving/troubleshooting skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership, with a self-motivated, action-oriented approach and sound judgment.
  • Familiarity with US Nuclear Regulatory Commission regulatory guides, policies and procedures is strongly desired
  • Experience performing Commercial Grade Item Dedication of components and systems for use in safety applications for nuclear power generating plants is highly desirable

U.S. Citizenship required. This position may require an active DOD security clearance or the ability to obtain such clearance within a reasonable time after commencement of employment.
