Required Skills:
Preference for PathNet and lab-related workflows
3+ years supporting healthcare IT in a clinical, operational, or analyst capacity, with significant exposure to laboratory operations and workflows.
Hands-on experience with Oracle Cerner Millennium, with preference for PathNet and lab-related workflows. Experience supporting EHR/LIS implementations or migrations, including requirements, testing, go-live support, and sustainment. Working knowledge of interfaces/integrations and ability to collaborate on troubleshooting (including HL7 concepts and lab result flows). Strong communication and facilitation skills; proven ability to work with clinical leaders, laboratorians, and technical teams. Experience producing clear artifacts: workflow maps, requirements documentation, test evidence, decision briefs, and status reporting. Experience providing PMO (Project Management Office) support.
Preferred Skills: Experience supporting modernization programs in federal or large enterprise environments (multi-stakeholder governance, structured change control). Familiarity with reference lab connectivity and vendor coordination (e.g., LabCorp/Quest). Experience with Cerner PowerChart components used in care delivery workflows (e.g., mPages, PowerForms, Event Set Hierarchy).
Certification(s) in Oracle Cerner/Millennium solutions. PMO/project leadership credentials (e.g., PMP; Agile/Scrum). Background in lab quality/regulatory support (e.g., CAP readiness, SOPs, audits). Familiarity with healthcare regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA, HITECH).
Day-to-day Responsibilities:
Analyze, document, and optimize end-to-end laboratory clinical and business workflows (general lab, microbiology, transfusion medicine, anatomic pathology as applicable). Support Oracle Cerner Millennium (PathNet) design/build validation activities, including requirements gathering artifacts (e.g., workbooks), decision support documentation, and stakeholder readouts. Serve as a liaison between the EHR vendor/system integrator and laboratory end users, facilitating workshops, capturing actions/decisions, and aligning on best-practice workflows. Plan and execute testing (wet/dry), validation, and go-live readiness, including defect triage and functional retesting to support safe lab operations and regulatory expectations. Support LIS/EHR migration and cutover planning activities, including pre-go-live readiness assessments and integrated workflow validation. Partner with interface/integration teams to support lab interfaces and results routing, including investigating and correcting HL7-related issues and coordinating resend/reconciliation as needed. Contribute to training and adoption (review/improve training materials; train end users; provide elbow support). Support regulatory and quality activities (e.g., internal audits, CAP inspection support, SOP alignment). Provide project coordination / PMO support (risk/issue tracking, schedules, status reporting, meeting facilitation). and translate needs into functional specifications."
