Data Reliability Engineer PostgreSQL / AWS

We are looking for a skilled Data Reliability Engineer with 5–8 years of experience in Data Engineering and strong expertise in PostgreSQL and AWS cloud environments. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience building and supporting ETL/ELT pipelines, managing PostgreSQL RDS databases, and maintaining reliable data integration workflows. The role requires strong SQL skills, database troubleshooting capabilities, and experience working with modern data engineering tools to ensure efficient, secure, and dependable data operations.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Build, enhance, and support scalable ETL/ELT pipelines to facilitate seamless data integration across multiple platforms and sources.
• Manage PostgreSQL RDS environments by tracking database health, resource consumption, connectivity, and operational performance.
• Investigate database performance issues by analyzing SQL execution plans, identifying inefficient queries, and implementing indexing improvements.
• Support change data capture and streaming integrations using Debezium and Kafka Connect, ensuring consistent data synchronization.
• Monitor data processing jobs, identify pipeline failures, and resolve issues affecting data accuracy, availability, and delivery timelines.
• Manage Apache Airflow workflows by reviewing DAG executions, troubleshooting failed tasks, and maintaining successful pipeline schedules.
• Utilize AWS services such as RDS, S3, CloudWatch, and Redshift to support cloud-based database and data engineering operations.
• Develop automation scripts using Python or Bash and assist with infrastructure provisioning through Terraform or Crossplane.
• Implement database protection measures, including user access management, encryption, backup policies, and disaster recovery procedures.
• Perform incident analysis, resolve production data issues, and collaborate with engineering teams to improve database reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency.
