Description: Our client is currently seeking an Observability and Monitoring Engineer
Location: - Pennington, NJ (On-site)
Full-time opportunity

This job will have the following responsibilities:
  • We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Observability & Monitoring Engineer to design, implement, and scale enterprise-grade monitoring solutions across the ERF line of business. In this role, you will build proactive observability capabilities using Dynatrace, Splunk, and related platforms to improve application performance, reduce incidents, and enhance operational resilience. You will collaborate closely with application, infrastructure, and business teams to drive monitoring excellence across the organization.

Qualifications & Requirements:
    • Deploy and configure Dynatrace across diverse environments (Linux, Windows, Mainframe).
    • Onboard applications into Splunk using forwarders, source types, and indexing best practices.
    • Build dashboards, alerts, reports, and automations based on stakeholder requirements.
    • Implement full-stack monitoring: APM, infrastructure, logs, and synthetic monitoring.
    • Enable distributed tracing, anomaly detection, performance baselining, and predictive analytics.
    • Develop automation scripts (Python, Perl, Shell) for onboarding and configuration via APIs.
    • Integrate monitoring platforms with ITSM tools (Remedy, My ITSM) for incident workflows.
    • Establish data retention standards, governance, and operational best practices.
    • Create documentation, SOPs, and runbooks; deliver knowledge-transfer sessions.
    • Partner with application and infrastructure teams to align observability strategy across the enterprise.
    • Drive improvements in MTTR, application reliability, and engineering productivity.
    • Support production on a rotational basis, including occasional after-hours standby support.
    Minimum Qualifications
    • 3-5 years of experience in IT Operations or Production Support.
    • Strong hands-on knowledge of Dynatrace and Splunk.
    • Proficiency in scripting languages: Python, Perl, Unix Shell.
    • Experience with Oracle/Teradata databases and Unix-based environments.
    • Familiarity with job scheduling tools (e.g., Autosys).
    • Knowledge of monitoring tools such as ITRS Geneos, Dynatrace, Splunk, Remedy.
    • Understanding of ITIL processes (Incident & Problem Management).
    • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to perform under pressure and collaborate with both technical and non-technical teams.
    • Strong documentation and stakeholder-management capabilities.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Background in the financial/banking domain.
    • Experience with telemetry and operational analytics.
    • Experience configuring Splunk DB Connect and integrating new data sources.
    • Proven ability to interact with senior leadership and business stakeholders.
    • Creative mindset with a passion for proactive monitoring and automation.
