OverviewThis role is
not a traditional project coordinator position. It is a finance-forward role supporting IT initiatives within an R&D environment, with primary responsibility for
project financial ownership,
forecasting, and
portfolio cost control, alongside light project coordination.
The ideal candidate brings strong financial acumen, experience working in IT project environments, and the ability to proactively partner with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure financial accuracy and transparency across a portfolio of initiatives.
Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Management (Primary Focus)- Own financial tracking for a portfolio of IT projects, including budget vs. actuals
- Manage and report on CapEx and OpEx spend
- Perform month-end close activities, including variance analysis and forecasting updates
- Support Latest Best Estimate (LBE) processes
- Identify and resolve:
- Budget gaps
- Under- or over-spend
- Missing or delayed invoices
Forecasting & Planning- Participate in Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and Long-Range Planning cycles
- Build and maintain detailed project and portfolio financial forecasts
- Provide real-time financial visibility:
- Amount spent to date
- Remaining budget
- Future funding needs
- Anticipate financial risks and communicate mitigation strategies
Invoice & Spend Tracking- Use SAP / SRM to:
- Track invoice status
- Monitor vendor payments
- Investigate missing or late invoices
- Coordinate with vendors, engineering leads, and procurement partners to resolve discrepancies
Project & Portfolio Coordination- Maintain accurate financial and resource data within Clarity PPM
- Manage Purchase Orders (POs) and Statements of Work (SOWs)
- Track labor costs, time entries, and multi-vendor spend across projects
- Monitor project health dashboards and escalate risks or data inconsistencies
Stakeholder Collaboration- Partner closely with:
- Portfolio and Project Managers
- Engineering and Product teams
- Finance, Accounting, and Procurement
- Operate with a high degree of ownership, proactive follow-up, and self-driven investigation
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and leverage automation or reporting tools
Required Skills & Experience- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in financial management for IT or project-based work
- Required tools:
- Clarity PPM
- SAP / SRM
- Advanced Microsoft Excel
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple initiatives in a fast-paced, evolving environment
Nice to Have- Power BI (dashboard navigation and reporting)
- Experience in regulated or highly structured environments
- Exposure to R&D, life sciences, or enterprise IT portfolios
- Consulting background
Work Environment & Scope- Supports ~3 active projects at a time
- Manages multiple vendors, POs, and invoices concurrently

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $32.00/hr.
