Role -Application Developer
Position Description: The Application Developer, must be able to translate applications requirements into web-based solutions using available technology. This individual must be able to apply new and emerging technologies to the software development process.
Role and Responsibilities:
Configure and manage Orion Rhapsody Integration Engine software as an Enterprise solution at MDH for data routing, mapping, transformation and loading.
Specialize and be proficient in using Orion s Rhapsody integration engine to monitor and support the transport, mapping, and processing of Public Health data into the various PH applications such as Lab or Case Reports into NEDSS/eHARS/PRISM, Syndromic Surveillance data into ESSENCE and into Cancer Surveillance and Lead Screening. As needed on occasion, development of new data feeds is required.
Designs, configures and maintains COMM Points,
Configures and maintains Data Mappings and transformation.
Configures and maintains Routes within Rhapsody Integration Engine server using Java Script Language.
Applications maintenance of the NEDSS Base System (NBS) and ELR feed
Assists NEDSS team to perform root cause analysis and resolution of message failures, data quality issues, and lab submission inconsistencies.
Provided production support by monitoring message queues, resolving integration errors, and ensuring timely transmission of lab and case data to public health surveillance systems.
Conducted interface and message validation to ensure standards compliance and successful onboarding.
Maintained comprehensive technical documentation, SOPs, and configuration specs for all ELR and ECR interfaces.
Supported public health reporting compliance by integrating new reportable conditions, LOINC/SNOMED updates, and rule-based reporting logic
Ensured secure transport and handling of PHI in compliance with HIPAA and federal reporting regulations.

Education: This position requires a Bachelor s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in computer science, information systems, engineering, business, or a related scientific or technical discipline; or five (5) years of equivalent experience in a related field. (Note: A Master s degree is preferred.)
General Experience: The proposed candidate must have at least three (3) years of computer experience in at least two of the following disciplines: system analysis, system programming, application programming, and/or equipment analysis.
Specialized Experience: The proposed candidate must have at least one (1) year of experience developing applications using advanced technologies including Internet protocols or web-based technology. Technologies include HTML, CGI applications, PERL or Javascript, and Java.
