Role Overview
We are seeking a JIRA Expert to serve as a strategic leader and hands-on administrator for JIRA across the organization. This role will act as the owner of JIRA capabilities, ensuring the platform is fully leveraged as a project management tracking tool and organizational measuring stick. The ideal consultant will have a strong Agile background and the ability to educate teams, drive adoption, and continuously optimize JIRA usage to support business outcomes.
This is a highly visible role that blends JIRA administration, product ownership, and project management responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the JIRA subject matter expert for the organization
- Own and configure JIRA projects, workflows, dashboards, reports, and automations
- Design and maintain JIRA as a centralized project management and tracking tool
- Establish clear metrics, reporting, and visibility to measure delivery and performance
- Partner with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into JIRA solutions
- Provide hands-on training, coaching, and ongoing education to teams on JIRA best practices
- Lead and drive JIRA adoption across teams and departments
- Act as a product owner for JIRA, managing enhancements, improvements, and roadmap priorities
- Support Agile and Scrum teams by aligning JIRA configuration with Agile frameworks
- Troubleshoot issues and continuously improve usability and effectiveness of the platform
Required Qualifications
- Deep expertise with JIRA, including administration and advanced configuration
- Strong Agile background with experience supporting Scrum or Kanban teams
- Proven ability to design JIRA as a project tracking and reporting solution
- Experience educating teams and driving tool adoption across an organization
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to operate independently in a consultant-style engagement
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience serving as a JIRA Product Owner or Platform Owner
- Background in project or program management
- JIRA certifications are a plus but not required
