Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced OpenText Exstream Developer / Communication Designer to design, develop, maintain, and support customer communication documents and templates using OpenText Exstream, Design Manager/Design Builder, Empower, and Content Authoring tools.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience developing dynamic and personalized communications, reusable document components, templates, layouts, business rules, and content for print and digital channels. The candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, content teams, developers, and QA teams to deliver accurate, consistent, and scalable customer communications.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop customer communication templates using OpenText Exstream.
- Build and maintain document layouts, reusable components, fragments, styles, variables, and business rules.
- Use Exstream Design Builder / Designer to create and manage complex communications.
- Work with OpenText Empower and Content Authoring capabilities to create, modify, and manage communication content.
- Develop personalized and data-driven documents based on customer, transaction, and business information.
- Translate business and communication requirements into scalable document templates.
- Implement conditional content, dynamic sections, rules, variables, and personalization.
- Maintain consistency of branding, formatting, typography, and content across communications.
- Collaborate with business analysts, content authors, product owners, developers, and QA teams.
- Integrate document templates with upstream data sources and downstream delivery systems.
- Troubleshoot template, formatting, content, data-mapping, and document-generation issues.
- Perform unit testing and support QA/UAT activities for communication templates.
- Review generated outputs such as PDF, print, email, and other digital communication formats.
- Analyze production issues and provide root-cause analysis and fixes.
- Maintain documentation for templates, components, business rules, and design standards.
- Follow established development, version-control, testing, and deployment processes.
- Support enhancements, maintenance, releases, and production deployments for CCM applications.
- Identify opportunities to improve template reuse, automation, content management, and overall communication quality.
Required Skills
- Hands-on experience with OpenText Exstream.
- Strong experience with Exstream Design Builder / Design Manager / Designer.
- Experience developing and maintaining communication/document templates.
- Experience with OpenText Empower.
- Experience with Content Authoring / Content Author capabilities.
- Strong understanding of Customer Communications Management (CCM).
- Experience with dynamic document composition and personalized communications.
- Experience working with reusable content components and document templates.
- Understanding of conditional logic, variables, business rules, and data-driven document generation.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working with QA/UAT teams and production support.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with high-volume transactional communications.
- Experience with print and digital communication channels.
- Experience with PDF/document output generation.
- Knowledge of XML, JSON, CSV or other structured data formats.
- Experience with data mapping and transformation.
- Knowledge of document composition and enterprise content management.
- Experience in financial services, insurance, healthcare, telecommunications, or other industries with high-volume customer communications.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development environments.
- Experience working with version control and enterprise release processes.
