Location: Washington, District of Columbia (Onsite)
Role Overview
We are seeking a DRSN/Redswitch Technician to support operations in Washington, D.C. The role requires maintaining continuous operations of the Defense Red Switch Network (DRSN) and associated hardware. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in circuit or switching technologies and be prepared to work in a 24/7/365 environment, with availability for various shifts including day and night schedules.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate the DRSN switch and associated hardware in accordance with technical manuals.
- Perform scheduled, unscheduled, and corrective maintenance on DRSN equipment and circuits.
- Conduct fault isolation and repair of equipment and circuits.
- Perform preventative maintenance, including the replacement of circuit cards or major sub-assemblies.
- Execute software functions and translations for adds, moves, changes, and deletions of circuit or system data.
- Perform software upgrades and database management functions.
- Install and configure Integrated Service Telephones, Multifunction Digital Adapters, UDLT Multiplexers, cryptographic devices, and CSU/DSU/CTP equipment.
- Maintain continuous operations of the DRSN.
Required Qualifications
Clearance: candidates must be capable of acquiring/maintaining active DOD Top Secret SCI
Training and Experience: Successful completion of technical training for the operations and maintenance of the Defense Red Switch Network (DRSN) DSS-2A Switch or a Tech Control Facility equivalent. Experience as a Communications-Computer Systems Control Technician or similar civilian or military role is required. Alternatively, completion of military/civilian communications electronics courses with relevant operational experience will be considered.
Technical Skills: Candidates must possess a strong background and working knowledge of DISA Operational Circulars. Familiarity with various encryption devices (e.g., KG-175D, KIV-7M, KIV-19M, KIK-30, AN/PYQ 10, STE-R), including device substitution and keying, is necessary. Experience with circuit or switching technologies is essential. Desired technical keywords include BERT Testing, Circuit Testing, Firebirds, IST2, MLPs, DSS 2-A, COMSEC, and Crypto.
Certifications: CompTia Sec+ CE certification is required for this position.
