SAP Solution Architect (SAP FINANCE & IS-RETAIL Expert)

Job Title: SAP Solution Architect
 Duration: 12-Month Contract
Location: 100% Remote
Rate: Up to $100/hr (W2 Only)

Job Summary 
We are seeking a senior-level SAP Solution Architect to act as an enterprise advisor across a complex SAP landscape. This role blends hands-on architectural guidance, current-state problem solving, and incremental modernization. The architect will work closely with both business and IT stakeholders to ensure SAP solutions are scalable, integrated, and aligned with best practices.

This is not a greenfield role. The focus is on improving how SAP is currently used across the organization while guiding future-state direction thoughtfully and pragmatically.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate SAP as an end-to-end integrated ecosystem across multiple modules.

• Provide architectural guidance on how SAP should function holistically, not just module-by-module.

• Advise teams during fixes, enhancements, and initiatives to:

  • Recommend SAP best practices

  • Avoid short-term solutions that introduce long-term technical debt

  • Identify upstream and downstream impacts (especially Finance)

• Act as a trusted advisor to functional managers during planning and design.

• Review proposed configurations and guide teams toward SAP-recommended approaches.

• Serve as an architectural sounding board, influencing decisions through collaboration rather than authority.

• Partner with systems integrators and external vendors to ensure consistency and continuity.

• Support ongoing improvements while maintaining architectural integrity.

• Architectural evaluation of SAP PI/PO to SAP BTP

• Integration strategy guidance

Accounts Payable

• Exploration and guidance around OCR-based invoice processing

Upgrades & Lifecycle

• Supporting S/4HANA 2023 upgrade

• System archiving initiatives

Continuous Improvement

• Reviewing and guiding small enhancements to ensure long-term architectural soundness

• ~75% focus on current-state support and improvements

• ~25% focus on future-state strategy

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong, hands-on SAP Solution Architecture experience at the enterprise level.

• Deep understanding of SAP Finance (FI) and cross-module dependencies.

• Ability to advise both business and IT stakeholders with confidence.

• Experience working across multiple SAP modules in an integrated environment.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into business terms.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in Retail or Consumer-facing SAP environments.

• Experience partnering with external systems integrators.

• Prior involvement in SAP upgrades, platform modernization, or integration redesigns.
