Marine Chief Electrical Officer

Job Summary
This vital role supports the safe, reliable, and regulatory-compliant operation of vessel electrical systems from a shore-based position. As the key technical resource, you will coordinate maintenance, troubleshooting, drydock planning, upgrades, and system reliability initiatives, ensuring our fleet meets all safety and compliance standards while optimizing operational performance.

Responsibilities
  • Provide expert technical support to vessel engineering teams on electrical system operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and reliability enhancements.
  • Serve as the primary shore-side escalation point for complex electrical, automation, navigation, and communication system issues.
  • Plan and supervise electrical maintenance activities, repairs, drydock projects, and system upgrades.
  • Guarantee adherence to Class regulations, Flag State requirements, SOLAS, USCG standards, and company safety protocols.
  • Maintain accurate technical records and support audits, inspections, investigations, and reporting requirements.
  • Assist with budgeting, procurement, vendor relationships, and project management for assigned vessels.
  • Conduct vessel visits to evaluate system conditions, assist with troubleshooting, and identify opportunities for improvement.

Requirements
  • A relevant Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a similar maritime technical discipline.
  • Chief Electrical Officer (CEO) certification or equivalent marine electrical experience highly preferred.
  • Proven experience supporting marine electrical systems within commercial vessel operations.
  • Strong knowledge of marine electrical systems, automation, safety practices, and related regulatory standards.
  • Familiarity with planned maintenance systems and compiling technical documentation.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, and system specifications.
  • Willingness to work approximately three days per week in the office, with ability and willingness to support international and domestic vessel travel up to 25%.
  • Preferred candidates are located in or willing to relocate to the Pacific Northwest region.
  • Capable of boarding vessels, climbing ladders, and working outside of standard business hours when necessary.
