Software Engineer (Contingent Resource)

Location: Charlotte, NC
About the Role

In this contingent resource assignment, you will consult on complex, large-scale Software Engineering initiatives with broad organizational impact. You will contribute to the analysis and resolution of multifaceted engineering challenges, partner closely with stakeholders, and help deliver scalable, high-quality data and software solutions.
What You'll Do
  • Consult on complex Software Engineering initiatives involving broad impact and large-scale planning.
  • Review, analyze, and solve multi-faceted, large-scale, or long-term engineering challenges that require evaluation of multiple technical and non-technical factors, including novel or unprecedented conditions.
  • Contribute to the resolution of complex engineering problems by applying a strong understanding of software development practices, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
  • Design, build, and optimize data pipelines and ETL processes to support analytics and downstream systems.
  • Collaborate strategically with client personnel and cross-functional partners to gather requirements, provide guidance, and deliver solutions that meet business objectives.
  • Participate in Agile development processes, including backlog grooming, sprint planning, and daily stand-ups.
  • Support performance tuning, automation, and reliability improvements across systems and reporting workflows.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience gained through work, consulting, training, military service, or education.
  • Experience in Data Engineering.
  • Proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL, with hands-on database development experience.
  • Experience with at least one general-purpose programming language such as Python or Java.
  • Experience with ETL tools and data pipeline frameworks.
  • Experience working with Parquet files and data stored in Amazon S3 or similar object storage.
  • Familiarity with both relational and NoSQL databases.
  • Experience with performance tuning and automation.
  • Experience working in Agile development environments.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with big data technologies such as Apache Spark, Hadoop, or Kafka.
  • Experience designing and supporting large-scale data platforms and pipelines.
  • Experience applying Artificial Intelligence or machine learning concepts in production or data-driven environments.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform), or Microsoft Azure.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with experience consulting or partnering directly with clients or stakeholders.
