Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is seeking a Payloads Senior Engineering Manager (Level L) to lead the Seat Integration Team (SIT) in Renton, Washington.

The role involves managing a multidisciplinary team of engineers overseeing strategy, supplier management, seat development projects, and program management for BFE and SFE seats and related furniture. The manager will collaborate across the 737 program and various disciplines to drive quality, flow, and stability, while championing engineering excellence and succession planning.

The ideal candidate is an experienced engineering leader with strong program management and systems integration skills, deep knowledge of aircraft interiors and certification, and proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and suppliers. Experience as an airplane-level technical or product integration lead, managing factory and field activities, and familiarity with avionics/interiors coordination tools and PACER workflows is highly desirable.

This position requires a proactive leader who balances technical rigor with practical execution to deliver safe, compliant, and customer-focused seat installations on the 737 platform.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Manages, develops, and motivates employees and first-level managers performing engineering and technical activities in the area of Mechanical & Structural Engineering.
  • Keeps safety and quality at the forefront of all activities.
  • Utilizes broad Interiors domain knowledge and experience to solve complex problems and effectively manage ambiguity, including dynamic program schedules.
  • Applies creativity and innovative thinking to develop solutions that meet customer and Boeing needs.
  • Proactively identifies and mitigates risks early by leveraging program management best practices.
  • Advise and influence managers and employees to ensure schedule adherence, optimize overall performance, and resolve technical or operational issues effectively.
  • Develops and administers budgets, schedules, and performance standards.
  • Participates in establishing and administering multiple projects.
  • Develops and executes integrated departmental plans, policies, and procedures, and provides input on departmental business and technical strategies, goals, and objectives.
  • Acquires resources for department activities, provides technical management of suppliers, and leads process improvements.
  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners, and direct reports.
  • Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products, and processes.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences).
  • 5+ years of experience as a Manager leading engineering teams.
  • 5+ years of experience in an engineering related role.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills and Experience):
  • Experience with Seat Integration Team.
  • Experience with 737 airplane program.
  • Experience working with suppliers on technically demanding projects.
  • Experience working across the value stream including design, supplier production, airplane production, and fleet support.
  • Strong understanding of Interior certification processes and requirements.
  • Proficient in solving complex problems and managing ambiguity in dynamic program schedules.
  • Proactive risk identification and mitigation using program management best practices.
  • Creative and innovative thinker, developing solutions that meet customer and Boeing needs.
  • Adaptable and comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong skills in building trust and collaboration with teams and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated success in team building, coaching, and employee development to enhance performance and engagement.
