Senior/Lead Power BI Architect & Developer 
Role Summary 
We are seeking a highly experienced Lead Power BI Architect & Analytics Developer to design, 
develop and govern enterprise-grade business intelligence solutions using Microsoft Power BI and 
Microsoft Fabric. 
The successful candidate must possess deep expertise across the entire Power BI stack, 
extending well beyond report development. The role requires advanced capabilities in semantic 
modelling, DAX, Power Query/M, performance optimization, security, governance, deployment, 
administration and enterprise BI architecture. 
The individual will work closely with the Microsoft Fabric Data Engineering team and business 
stakeholders to transform governed enterprise data into intuitive, performant and trusted analytical 
solutions. 
Key Responsibilities 
• Architect, develop and maintain enterprise-grade Power BI reports, dashboards, semantic 
models and analytical applications. 
• Design scalable semantic models supporting Finance, Sales, Operations, Supply Chain 
and executive reporting. 
• Develop robust dimensional models using appropriate star-schema principles, 
fact/dimension modelling, relationship design and reusable measures. 
• Demonstrate expert-level DAX, including filter and row context, context transition, 
CALCULATE, iterators, time intelligence, virtual tables, variables, calculation groups and 
advanced measure design. 
• Develop sophisticated transformations using Power Query and M while determining whether 
transformations should appropriately reside in Power Query, Fabric pipelines, 
Lakehouse/Warehouse or the semantic model. 
• Design solutions using Import, DirectQuery, Direct Lake and composite models, 
selecting the appropriate architecture based on performance, latency and business 
requirements. 
• Build Power BI solutions directly against Microsoft Fabric Lakehouse and Warehouse 
environments. 
• Optimize semantic models and reports for performance, scalability and user experience. 
• Troubleshoot DAX, model and query performance using tools and techniques such as 
Performance Analyzer, DAX Studio, query diagnostics and model optimization. 
• Implement incremental refresh, aggregations, partitions and appropriate refresh strategies 
for large datasets. 
• Implement and maintain Row-Level Security (RLS), Object-Level Security (OLS) and 
appropriate workspace/app access controls. 
• Design secure reporting solutions for different business units, roles and management 
hierarchies. 
• Establish standards for Power BI workspaces, apps, semantic models, reports, naming 
conventions, endorsements/certification and content lifecycle management. 
• Configure and manage gateways, connections, credentials, refresh schedules and data
source connectivity where required. 
• Build reusable enterprise semantic models rather than creating unnecessary report-specific 
datasets. 
• Establish a single source of truth for enterprise KPIs and business metrics. 
• Work with Finance and business stakeholders to define calculations and ensure consistent 
interpretation of measures across reports. 
• Develop executive dashboards, operational reporting, drill-through experiences, tooltips, 
bookmarks, parameters and advanced interactive reporting capabilities. 
• Apply strong principles of data visualization, information hierarchy, accessibility, 
usability and dashboard design. 
• Design mobile-friendly Power BI experiences where required. 
• Implement deployment pipelines and Dev/Test/Prod processes. 
• Support Git/source-control and CI/CD practices where applicable within the Microsoft 
Fabric/Power BI environment. 
• Implement appropriate refresh monitoring, usage monitoring, adoption analytics and 
operational support procedures. 
• Understand and optimize Power BI/Fabric capacity utilization, including identifying poorly 
performing models, queries and reports. 
• Support migration and modernization of legacy Tableau and other reporting solutions into 
Power BI where appropriate. 
• Document semantic models, KPI definitions, data lineage, security rules, report 
specifications and support procedures. 
• Conduct peer reviews and establish Power BI development standards across the 
organization. 
• Train and mentor developers, analysts and business users on Power BI best practices. 
Advanced Power BI Expertise Required 
This candidate should be genuinely senior and have deep experience with: 
Power BI Desktop and Service; Microsoft Fabric; semantic models; DAX; Power Query/M; 
Direct Lake; Import and DirectQuery; composite models; star schemas; calculation groups; 
field parameters; incremental refresh; aggregations; RLS/OLS; deployment pipelines; 
gateways; Power BI Apps; workspace administration; dataflows; paginated reporting where 
required; performance tuning; capacity management; and enterprise BI governance. 
They should understand when logic belongs in DAX vs. Power Query vs. SQL vs. the Fabric data 
engineering layer, rather than solving every problem inside the report. 
Required Experience 
Ideally, the resource should have 8+ years of BI/data analytics experience with 5+ years of 
advanced Power BI development, including responsibility for enterprise-scale implementations. 
Strong SQL skills are essential. Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure/Fabric data platforms, 
enterprise data warehouses and complex ERP/financial datasets is strongly preferred. 
The candidate should have demonstrated experience building solutions used by both operational 
teams and senior executives and should be capable of taking a Power BI solution from 
requirements → model → DAX → visualization → security → deployment → performance 
optimization → production support.
