job summary:
The Epic Project Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and delivering assigned Epic projects in support of larger Epic programs and initiatives. This role focuses on day?to?day project execution, ensuring deliverables are completed on time, within scope, and aligned with clinical, technical, and business requirements. The Epic Project Manager works under the direction of an Epic Program Manager and partners closely with clinical, IT, and vendor teams.

responsibilities:
Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage assigned Epic projects from initiation through closure, ensuring delivery within defined scope, schedule, and budget
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, timelines, milestones, and task dependencies
- Coordinate day?to?day project activities across internal teams, third?party vendors, and Epic resources
- Facilitate project meetings, working sessions, and status reviews
- Track project progress, risks, issues, and action items; escalate appropriately to the Epic Program Manager
- Support requirements gathering, documentation, and validation activities
- Manage project?level scope, including change requests and impact assessments
- Coordinate resource planning and task assignments for project team members
- Monitor project budgets for assigned efforts and report variances
- Ensure adherence to SDLC processes, Epic implementation standards, and operational readiness activities
- Provide regular project status updates to stakeholders and leadership
- Partner with clinical, technical, and business users to ensure solutions meet operational needs
qualifications:
Required Skills & Experience
- 5-7 years of healthcare project management experience
- Hands?on experience supporting or delivering Epic implementations, upgrades, or enhancements
- Experience working with third?party vendors and matrixed project teams
- Strong project scheduling, tracking, and coordination skills
- Strong issue and risk management capabilities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Attention to detail with strong organizational and problem?solving skills
- Working knowledge of SDLC methodologies
- Bachelor's degree required
Preferred Qualifications
- Epic certification in at least one module preferred
- PMP or PMI certification preferred (not required)
- Experience working in complex healthcare IT environments
- Proficiency with project management tools and healthcare systems
