Position OverviewOur client is seeking a highly skilled
Technical Writer to support a large-scale, fast-paced technical program. The Technical Writer will collaborate closely with engineering and project teams to develop, edit, and publish high-quality technical documentation including designs, installation guides, configuration documents, runbooks/playbooks, and related materials.
This role requires a strong understanding of Information Technology systems, excellent writing skills, and the ability to work within structured documentation standards and templates. The ideal candidate thrives in complex environments, maintains exceptional attention to detail, and can manage multiple tasks under tight timelines.
Key Responsibilities- Develop, edit, and format technical documents using standard tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and similar software.
- Review draft documentation from technical teams and align content with standard templates, when available.
- Create new documentation templates as needed to support project consistency.
- Maintain document version control and manage files within defined repositories (e.g., SharePoint).
- Apply consistent standards for grammar, readability, structure, and technical clarity.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to clarify content, gather missing information, and validate accuracy.
- Ensure edited documents are returned to content owners for review and approval.
- Publish finalized, approved documentation according to project procedures and guidance from the Project Manager.
- Support a large enterprise-level project with tight deadlines and high-volume documentation requirements.
- Occasionally travel to the manufacturing site if needed.
Required Skills & Qualifications- Proven experience writing and editing technical documentation in an IT environment.
- Strong working knowledge of Information Technology systems and concepts to interpret draft content accurately.
- Proficiency with documentation tools such as MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Visio.
- Experience managing documentation using version control within enterprise repositories (e.g., SharePoint).
- Ability to develop and maintain standardized templates for technical documentation.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to travel occasionally as required.
- U.S. Citizenship (required for clearance and project eligibility).
