Business Systems Analyst (BSA)

Position SummaryWe are seeking a highly motivated
Business Systems Analyst (BSA) to support the delivery and enhancement of a strategic
Freight as a Service (FaaS) platform built on the Microsoft .NET technology stack. This individual will serve as the liaison between business stakeholders and technology teams, ensuring business needs are translated into clear, actionable requirements and prioritized work plans.
The BSA will work closely with product owners, operations teams, freight and logistics stakeholders, software developers, QA teams, and project leadership to define solutions, manage requirements, coordinate delivery activities, and support the successful execution of FaaS initiatives.
Key ResponsibilitiesBusiness Analysis & Requirements Management
- Partner with business stakeholders to understand operational processes, challenges, and business objectives related to Freight as a Service offerings.
- Facilitate requirements-gathering sessions, workshops, interviews, and process reviews.
- Elicit, analyze, document, validate, and manage functional and non-functional requirements.
- Develop business requirements documents (BRDs), functional requirements documents (FRDs), user stories, use cases, process maps, and workflow diagrams.
- Translate business requirements into detailed specifications for .NET development teams.
- Ensure requirements are prioritized, traceable, and aligned with business goals.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as the primary liaison between business users, product owners, and technical teams.
- Facilitate ongoing communication and ensure stakeholder alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
- Present solution options, impacts, and recommendations to business leadership.
- Manage stakeholder expectations and communicate project status, risks, and dependencies.
Work Planning & Delivery Coordination
- Collaborate with project managers, product owners, and development teams to support roadmap planning and release scheduling.
- Create and maintain project backlogs, work plans, requirement priorities, and delivery milestones.
- Coordinate activities across development, QA, infrastructure, and business teams.
- Monitor progress against planned deliverables and escalate risks or roadblocks when necessary.
- Support Agile ceremonies including backlog refinement, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
Process Improvement & Solution Design
- Analyze current-state freight and logistics processes and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements.
- Assist in defining future-state business processes and solution workflows.
- Evaluate impacts of new features, integrations, and system enhancements.
- Support business process standardization and continuous improvement initiatives.
Testing & Implementation Support
- Develop test scenarios and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Coordinate defect triage and business validation activities.
- Assist with implementation planning, training, and change management activities.
- Support post-deployment validation and production issue resolution.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst, Business Analyst, or related role.
- Experience working with custom-developed applications, preferably within a Microsoft .NET environment.
- Strong experience gathering, documenting, and managing business and technical requirements.
- Experience supporting Agile and/or Scrum delivery methodologies.
- Strong understanding of SDLC processes and software development practices.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, facilitation, and communication skills.
- Experience using tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, Confluence, Visio, Microsoft Teams, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience supporting transportation, logistics, freight management, supply chain, or Freight as a Service platforms.
- Knowledge of freight operations, carrier management, shipment lifecycle management, rate management, transportation planning, or customer freight portals.
- Experience working with APIs, system integrations, and data exchange processes.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Azure and cloud-based application architectures.
- Experience with SQL and data analysis tools.
- CBAP, CCBA, PMI-PBA, or Scrum certifications are a plus.
