Location: Northborough, Massachusetts (Onsite)
COMPENSATION : $22 - $28 HOURLY
Role Overview
We are seeking a Facilities Technician to support the maintenance and improvement of a distribution center. The successful candidate will be responsible for repairing building infrastructure, maintaining various systems, and ensuring operational efficiency in a customer-focused manner. This role requires flexibility with work hours and participation in an on-call rotation.
Key Responsibilities
- Repairing and making improvements to the building and infrastructure.
- Supporting and maintaining fire protection systems.
- Maintaining the distribution center's HVAC system.
- Maintaining and repairing distribution center racking.
- Performing metal and wood fabrications, including welding.
- Repairing and maintaining material handling equipment and the building pneumatic system.
- Maintaining the automated conveyor system.
- Completing preventative maintenance routines, documentation, and procedures.
- Tracking and storing the department's inventory, including spare parts.
- Supporting continuous improvement in the department and distribution center.
- Promoting and conducting good housekeeping practices.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience and proficiency in automated conveyor systems and controls.
- Knowledge of electrical and electronic principles.
- Ability to read blueprints and electrical schematics.
- Experience in the repair of material handling equipment.
- Experience with HVAC maintenance and repair.
- Familiarity with preventative maintenance procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree from a vocational school or college with a focus in the Mechanical or Electrical field.
- 4+ years of apprenticeship or equivalent experience in the Mechanical or Electrical field.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize projects and workload.
- Ability to work successfully with little supervision.
- Effective communication skills with peers, management, contractors, and vendors.
Work Environment
- Repetitive bending, crouching, kneeling, reaching, twisting, sitting, standing, and walking.
- Lifting parts and tools weighing on average 20 pounds, occasionally weighing up to 80 pounds.
- Dexterity in eye/hand coordination, feet (foot pedals), manual (picking, pinching, holding, grasping), and wrist motion.
- Working conditions may include small spaces, dust, fumes/odors, hot/cold temperatures, inside/outside noise, vibration, standing on concrete for long hours, and wet or uneven surfaces.
