Our client has an exciting opportunity for a Network Engineer.

Rate: $80 - $100 / hr. w2

Responsibilities:
Acts as a resource for the Vice President of IT Operations to facilitate the design and implementation of networks, security and telecommunications systems. Design, modifies, configures, tests and implements network, security and telecommunications applications and operating systems. Has expertise in a variety network and telephony protocols. Provides technical guidance and support for networking and telecom staff. Conducts system analysis, industry research and proposes design upgrades to keep systems current with changing technologies.

The position requires skills for building relationships with internal clients, including peer IT groups and staff. The position also requires analytical skills for investigation and reporting, as well as leadership skills for development of systems that support the employee and members needs for communications and security.

  • Design and develop networking, security and communication systems, making specific determinations regarding system design and performance.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to production problems for supported systems and applications.
  • Conduct system analysis and configuration, with limited support from professional consultants, to keep our systems current with changing technologies.
  • Analyze, design, coordinate and supervise the deployment of network and telecommunications' systems to form a basis for the solution of information processing problems.
  • Analyze system specifications and translates system requirements to task specifications for IT staff.
  • Responsible for analysis of current network, security and telecommunications applications and systems including performance diagnosis and troubleshooting of problems, as well as designing solutions to problematic communication and networking issues.
  • Configures, edits, and troubleshoots new systems and configurations for assigned projects, including secure data throughput.
  • Documents configuration consistently throughout the deployment and support process by documenting design, special installation or support instructions, and any changes made in configurations.
  • Responsible for utilizing tools and equipment involved in performance of essential functions of networking, security and telecommunications systems, including testing and measuring instruments.
  • Ability to maintain positive internal and external client interactions.
  • Research and recommend network management and support tools to management.
  • Provide assistance to testers and support personnel as needed to determine system problems.
  • Review, to the extent possible, changes in networking and telecommunications environment that will affect communications performance.
  • Provide recommendations to Sr. management concerning issues of network topology, security settings or telecommunications performance.
  • Attends regular staff meetings, prepares brief correspondence and reports, verbally communicates technical information, makes presentations to groups outside immediate work area, develops and documents procedures, follows up and researches questions and needed information, interacts with managers and senior management from different credit union clients on a regular basis.
  • Interacts with networking and server support staff.
  • Configure, troubleshoot, and maintain Palo Alto Firewalls (PA FW 5260/7050) and remote 850PA devices using Panorama.
  • Manage remote VPN users, tunnels, User-ID, GlobalProtect (GP), URL filtering, NATs, SSL, and authentication profiles.
  • Support leaf-spine architecture utilizing MP-BGP, EVPN/VXLAN on Cisco Nexus 9K platforms.
  • Configure, upgrade, and troubleshoot Cisco Nexus (3K, 5K, 7K, 9K) and Catalyst switches running NX-OS.
  • Manage Cisco/Arista networks, including vPC, FEX, port-channels, and provisioning Cisco DNAC, NDFC, and ISE servers for dot1x, MAB, guest access, posture, and profiling.
  • Optimize routing and redundancy using MPLS-LDP, EIGRP, OSPF, and BGP routing protocols.
  • Monitor network performance, WAN circuits, and respond to incidents using Infosim and SolarWinds.
  • Install, configure, and maintain F5 LTM/GTM devices; create nodes, members, pools, VIPs, profiles, and iRules for L4-L7 connectivity.
  • Troubleshoot F5-related issues including VIP/LTM/GTM/pool/persistence/SNAT/iRule/CookieInsert.
  • Perform advanced GTM troubleshooting using tools such as openssl, iqsynch, iqdump, dnsxdump, big3d_install, bigip_add, and gtm_add.
  • Analyze client and server-side Wireshark packet captures to resolve F5 connectivity issues.
  • Troubleshoot reachability, latency, SLA, and asymmetric routing issues.
  • Perform updates, patches, and software upgrades for firewalls and network device

Experience Requirements:
  • Must demonstrate a good working knowledge of moderately complex systems, including experience with EIGRP, F5, Palo Alto, BGP, OSPF, SD-WAN, VPN, IDS, IPS, TACACS, RSA.
  • Professional certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, MCSE or security certifications preferred.
  • Ability to solve problems quickly and completely.
  • A solid understanding of networking/distributed computing environment concepts including emerging software defined networks and CCaaS systems.
  • Solid understanding the principles of routing, firewalls and phone system configurations and programming.
  • Possess excellent communication skills, with an emphasis on verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to multi-task and stay organized in a dynamic work environment.
  • Participate in development of long-range planning for new projects and environments.
  • Experience and ability to teach or instruct co-workers.
  • Providing advice, training and technical support for various projects.
  • Working closely with management team in evaluating current systems and making decisions on future networking and telecommunication processes.
  • As new technologies emerge and impact our systems, expected to learn these technologies very quickly and resolve any problems involved in integrating new technologies with our systems.
  • Expert knowledge of networking, security protocols, telecommunications systems and deployments.
  • Ability to work productively in a team.
  • Knowledge of writing technical documents, configuration drawings, network management tools and networking technology
  • Ability to determine whether a particular problem is caused by hardware, operating systems software, application programs, or network failures.
  • Good knowledge of data security and encryption.
  • Demonstrated ability to use standard computing tools: Word processor, spreadsheet, browser, email, and file compression software.
  • 5+ years of experience in network engineering and security operations.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Palo Alto Firewalls, Cisco NexCatalyst, and Arista platforms.
  • Expertise in MP-BGP, EVPN/VXLAN, and advanced routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS).
  • Proficiency in F5 LTM/GTM configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with network monitoring tools such as SolarWinds and Infosim.
  • Solid understanding of authentication frameworks (ISE, dot1x, MAB, posture).
  • Ability to analyze packet captures and troubleshoot complex network issues.
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with Cisco DNAC, NDFC, and automation tools.
  • Knowledge of SSL VPNs, GlobalProtect, and advanced firewall policies.
  • Strong scripting skills for network automation (Python, Ansible).
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNP, PCNSE, F5-CA, Arista ACE).


Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree and six to eight years of experience in network, security, telecom or IT systems development.
  • Equivalent experience level may offset educational requirement.
