Job#: 3031273 Job Description: We are seeking a
Level 1 Decommissioning Technician to support data center decommissioning operations. This is an entry-level role focused on the
safe removal, teardown, and processing of IT equipment such as servers, network devices, and cabling. The ideal candidate is reliable, safety-focused, physically capable, and interested in gaining hands-on data center experience.
Shift: Sun-Tues with Every other WED - 12 Hr shifts, OT available*
Pay Rate Range: will vary based on qualifications and experience and will range from $24-$30/hr
Key Responsibilities- Assist with the decommissioning and removal of IT hardware, including servers, racks, network equipment, and cabling
- Follow documented decommissioning procedures, work instructions, and safety guidelines
- Perform basic rack and stack tear-down, cable removal, and equipment sorting
- Label, inventory, and prepare equipment for reuse, recycling, or disposal
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Use hand tools and basic power tools safely and correctly
- Work as part of a team to meet daily productivity and quality goals
- Escalate issues, damaged equipment, or safety concerns to leads or supervisors
- Comply with data center security, access control, and confidentiality requirements
- Support other data center tasks as assigned
Required Qualifications- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to follow instructions and documented processes
- Willingness to work in a data center environment (noise, temperature variations, raised floors)
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform repetitive physical tasks (bending, standing, carrying)
- Basic computer skills (data entry, simple systems)
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
- Reliable attendance and positive team attitude
Preferred (Not Required)- Previous experience in:
- Data centers
- IT hardware handling
- Warehousing, logistics, or equipment installation/removal
- Familiarity with servers, rack-mounted equipment, or structured cabling
- Experience using hand tools or power tools
- OSHA 10 or general safety training
Physical & Work Requirements- Ability to stand, walk, and work on feet for extended periods
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull equipment up to 50 lbs
- Must be comfortable working around energized equipment (no live work performed)
- Must follow PPE requirements at all times
