Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced IT Project Manager to orchestrate the implementation of a new Electronic Health Records (EHR) system for school-based health services. This is a full-time, remote contract position expected to last through the end of the calendar year 2026. The successful candidate will partner with our Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO) to lead the project through its full lifecycle, ensuring it is completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing complex IT projects, preferably with experience in EHR system implementations. You will be responsible for managing all project activities, from initiation to closeout, using a hybrid lifecycle approach that leverages Agile principles. This role requires exceptional organizational, communication, and leadership skills to work effectively with project teams, stakeholders, and implementation vendors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Leadership & Execution: Lead and orchestrate all phases of the EHR system implementation project, adhering to EPMO-defined processes and governance.
- Project Planning & Scheduling: Create and maintain a detailed project schedule using prescribed tools (e.g., Azure DevOps) to track activities, dependencies, resources, milestones, and progress.
- Risk & Issue Management: Proactively identify, create, maintain, and track project risks and issues in the project management tool, providing recommendations for mitigation and resolution.
- Financial Management: Create, track, and update the project budget, including actual expenditures, using the EPMO's project management tool.
- Stakeholder & Vendor Management: Facilitate project activities, produce stakeholder registers, and manage communications with all parties, including ensuring successful completion of implementation vendor deliverables (DEDs/DAFs).
- Meeting Facilitation: Schedule and lead project meetings (e.g., status, risk reviews, backlog grooming, release planning), producing and distributing agendas and meeting minutes promptly.
- Documentation & Reporting: Provide detailed weekly project status reports, manage the project document repository, and create key project artifacts such as the deliverable matrix, decision log, change requests, lessons learned, and project closeout reports.
- Change Management: Work with the IT Portfolio Manager and governance committees to manage changes to project scope, schedule, or budget, ensuring all changes are formally reviewed and approved.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Proven experience as an IT Project Manager, with a strong preference for candidates who have managed similar missions, such as EHR or healthcare system implementations.
- PMP Certification is required.
- Demonstrated expertise in project management methodologies, including hybrid and Agile lifecycles.
- Proficiency with project management tools such as Azure DevOps and Microsoft Office Suite (Project, Visio, Word, Excel).
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain meticulous document repositories.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to facilitate meetings and manage stakeholder expectations effectively.
- Experience in creating and managing project schedules, budgets, risk/issue logs, and status reports.
Work Environment:
- Location: Fully Remote.
- Hours: Full-time, standard business hours (7:45 AM - 4:30 PM EST), excluding state holidays.
- Duration: Through the end of the calendar year 2026.
