Job Title: Senior Salesforce Platform Engineer
Duration: 6-month contract
Location: Everett, MA 02149 (Onsite/Hybrid as required)

Position Overview

A leading organization is seeking a Senior Salesforce Platform Engineer to join its application development and support team. This role is responsible for developing new Salesforce functionality and supporting existing applications. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with stakeholders and development teams to design, build, and maintain Salesforce and related applications using industry-standard tools and best practices.

The team follows a Lean/Agile development methodology. This role requires hands-on experience across all tiers of the architecture, deep expertise in the Salesforce platform, system integrations, and transformation efforts from Salesforce Classic to Lightning. The engineer will participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, QA support, and defect remediation, as well as perform Salesforce administrative tasks as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with project managers, architects, business analysts, QA teams, and organizational stakeholders to deliver high-quality Salesforce solutions.

• Adhere to established development standards and methodologies, while proposing improvements based on software development best practices.

• Design, develop, and support Lightning Web Components (LWC) and integration platform enhancements, including bug fixes.

• Participate in requirements gathering, analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, and documentation activities.

• Build and enhance Salesforce user interfaces across Experience Cloud, Lightning App Pages, Record Pages, Flexipages, Flows (Screen Flows), and custom UI patterns.

• Develop modern front-end solutions using JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, CSS3, responsive design principles, and component-based architecture.

• Participate in regular team meetings, sprint activities, and provide weekly status updates.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor s degree in Computer Science or a related field.

• Proven experience working on large-scale projects with cross-functional teams and diverse stakeholders.

Required Technical Skills & Experience

• Strong hands-on experience with Salesforce Lightning development, including Lightning Web Components (LWC) and Aura Components.

• Advanced proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, and CSS3, with experience building responsive and reusable UI components.

• Solid understanding of Salesforce data architecture, security model, sharing rules, and Lightning Data Service (LDS).

• Experience developing Apex classes, triggers, controllers, and test classes following Salesforce best practices.

• Strong experience integrating Salesforce with external systems using REST/SOAP APIs, platform events, and asynchronous processing.

• Expertise in Salesforce security concepts, including roles, profiles, permission sets, sharing rules, and restriction rules.

• Experience with Salesforce Lightning Design System (SLDS) and UI performance optimization.

• Knowledge of Experience Cloud (Communities) customization and Lightning-based user interfaces.

• Experience debugging complex UI and backend issues using browser developer tools, Salesforce logs, and monitoring tools.

• Understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1) and building accessible Lightning components.

• Strong experience implementing secure integrations using OAuth/JWT, Named Credentials, and authentication frameworks.

• Hands-on experience with asynchronous integration patterns including Platform Events, Queueable Apex, and Batch Apex.

Certifications

• Salesforce Platform Developer I & II (Required)

• Salesforce Architect certifications are a strong plus

Additional Skills

• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines

• Experience with JIRA, Confluence, and SharePoint

• Experience using Salesforce development tools and version control systems such as VS Code, IntelliJ, GitHub, Bitbucket, and SFDX

• Experience working in Agile development environments

• Strong problem-solving skills with excellent written and verbal communication abilities

• Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities, production needs, and urgent situations

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience related to K 12 education or curriculum standards

• Exposure to cloud platforms, particularly AWS, is a plus
