Location: Newport Beach, CA (Onsite)

Employment Type: Full-Time, Contract (18 months) - W2

An industry-leading financial services organization is seeking a Data Engineer III to help shape the future of data engineering and accelerate data-driven decision-making across the enterprise. About the Role

As a Data Engineer III, you will design, build, and support data products that empower Finance and other business teams to leverage high-quality, trusted data. You'll work with structured and semi-structured data from a variety of internal and external sources, enabling analytics, reporting, and operational insights.

What You'll Do
  • Partner with data architects, analysts, engineers, and business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver effective data solutions.
  • Build scalable, reliable data pipelines with strong security, performance, quality, and governance standards.
  • Deliver solutions aligned with modern cloud-based architectures and target-state designs.
  • Create and maintain technical design documentation and data engineering artifacts.
  • Promote agile methodologies and a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Ensure adherence to data engineering best practices and standards.
  • Demonstrate adaptability, initiative, and attention to detail in all deliverables.


What You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Analytics, or related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in data analysis, design, development, and delivery.
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience with SQL, ETL/ELT, cloud data warehouse technologies, and data management tools.
  • Strong understanding of data engineering best practices and integration patterns.
  • 2+ years of experience with DevOps and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to break down complex data challenges.


What Makes You Stand Out
  • Experience leading DataOps/DevOps functions including release, deployment, operations, and monitoring of data products.
  • 1+ years of experience with Snowflake, dbt, and Matillion.
  • Experience driving automation, optimization, and innovation in data management or batch processing environments.
  • Financial services industry experience.
  • Ability to establish effective processes and frameworks within your area of ownership.
  • Strong ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
  • Experience delivering Finance-focused data engineering solutions.
  • Familiarity with Control-M or similar orchestration tools.
