OverviewWe are seeking a Senior Production Support Engineer to lead troubleshooting, failure analysis, hardware investigation, and technical issue resolution within a fast-paced production and supplier environment. This role is highly hands-on, requiring strong hardware diagnostic skills, test equipment proficiency, and the ability to drive complex issues through full resolution while coordinating across multiple engineering and operations teams.
This position is critical to ensuring product integrity, maintaining manufacturing flow, and supporting continuous improvement across hardware, test, and production processes.
Primary MissionProvide rapid, structured, and technically sound problem resolution for production and supplier hardware issues by identifying root causes, creating actionable correction plans, coordinating cross-functional resources, and ensuring timely closure.
Key Responsibilities- Lead rapid assessment, triage, and resolution of hardware failures in production and supplier environments
- Identify required data, resources, and expertise to drive issue closure
- Develop troubleshooting paths and corrective-action plans; communicate these plans clearly to diverse cross-functional teams
- Take ownership of technical issues from initial diagnosis through final resolution
- Perform hands-on troubleshooting using:
- Oscilloscopes
- Logic analyzers
- Function generators
- Programmable power supplies
- Spectrum/network analyzers
- Analyze defect trends and yield data; implement improvements to reduce recurring failures
- Support and maintain the Technical Data Package (TDP), including engineering change documentation using product-lifecycle management tools (e.g., cPDM)
- Prepare and present engineering change packages to review/change boards
- Participate in peer reviews with engineering and operations teams
- Support general electrical engineering tasks associated with production, testing, and integration activities
- Coordinate with Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, and various engineering groups to drive system-level improvements
- Mentor junior engineers and guide troubleshooting best practices when required
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field
- Minimum 3+ years of relevant professional experience
- Experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Digital, analog, RF, or mixed-signal testing and debugging
- Troubleshooting complex circuit card assemblies or electro-mechanical systems
- Root-Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations
- Production or test support for electronic assemblies
- Strong proficiency using electrical lab equipment:
- Oscilloscopes
- Logic analyzers
- Function generators
- Power supplies
- Ability to interpret schematics, PCB layouts, and Bills of Materials (BoMs)
- Active Secret clearance (interim acceptable for submission)
Desired Qualifications- Experience supporting production efforts in a defense-related environment
- Electrical-engineering experience involving CCAs, EO, RF, seeker/sensor systems, or complex electronic subsystems
- Experience in:
- Circuit design
- CCA assembly and electrical test
- Test automation
- Sensor control
- PCB fabrication and CCA manufacturing processes
- Familiarity with tools such as:
- Mentor Graphics Designer
- PSPICE
- SystemVision
- MATLAB / Mathcad / IDL
- CST
- Microwave Design Studio
- HFSS
- ADS
- Spectrum analyzers / RF generators
- Experience with subsystem integration & test, post-test analysis, and issue investigation
- Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) for yield/performance improvements
- Strong technical writing, documentation, and engineering presentation skills
- Ability to work both independently and within small technical teams
- Experience with:
- Technical oversight
- Cost estimation and reporting
- Coordination across functions
- Preparing technical reports
- Supporting proposals and change requests
