Overview

Our utility company is seeking a UX Designer to support its ongoing digital transformation across customer- and employee-facing platforms. This role sits within our client’s Digital Products and UX organization and partners closely with product managers, engineers, researchers, content designers, and service designers to deliver intuitive, accessible, and scalable digital experiences. The UX Designer will contribute across the full design lifecycle — from discovery and research synthesis through wireframes, prototypes, and validated design solutions — helping translate complex energy and utility workflows into clear, user-centered experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with product, engineering, research, and content teams to design end-to-end user experiences for web and mobile applications.
  • Translate user research, service blueprints, and business requirements into user flows, journey maps, wireframes, and interactive prototypes.
  • Contribute to and work within established design systems, ensuring consistency, scalability, and accessibility.
  • Apply human-centered and service design principles to solve complex user and operational problems.
  • Participate in discovery activities including stakeholder interviews, design workshops, and usability testing.
  • Iterate on designs based on research findings, usability feedback, and technical constraints.
  • Advocate for accessibility-first design, including WCAG considerations, across all design work.
  • Clearly communicate design decisions to cross-functional stakeholders and incorporate feedback effectively.

Required Skills

  • 3–7+ years of professional UX design experience supporting digital products or platforms.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end UX process (research through execution and validation).
  • Hands-on experience creating wireframes, prototypes, and design documentation.
  • Proficiency with tools such as Figma, FigJam, Miro, or similar.
  • Experience working with or contributing to design systems and reusable components.
  • Solid understanding of user-centered design, interaction design, and information architecture.
  • Experience working in Agile, cross-functional product teams.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience designing enterprise-scale or regulated-industry applications (utilities, energy, financial services, government).
  • Exposure to service design artifacts such as service blueprints or ecosystem maps.
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG, ADA).
  • Experience collaborating with frontend developers during design handoff.
  • Experience supporting both customer-facing and internal employee tools.
