Job Overview:
The Electric Distribution Operator I is responsible for service restoration and distribution switching activities, utilizing extensive knowledge of electrical distribution systems. This role involves technical expertise in operations and switching practices, ensuring grid integrity, safety, and accuracy. The candidate will be expected to complete the Switching Training Program to become ROC switching certified within approximately 12-16 months. This is a shift-oriented position requiring flexibility and commitment to a 24/7 schedule.

Responsibilities:
  • Handle multiple tasks from start to finish, prioritizing and managing constantly changing priorities.
  • Work under pressure and make well-thought-out decisions.
  • Analyze large subsets of data from multiple information sources to determine and create appropriate action plans.
  • Maintain grid integrity and ensure the safety of personnel while ensuring accuracy and error prevention.
  • Complete all reporting to keep management informed of system conditions, circuit outages, key and critical customer interruptions, emergency conditions, and extended outages.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum 1+ years of experience in dispatching, emergency services, complex database management, and/or customer service.
  • Understanding of the Electric Distribution System.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Analytical skills and proficiency in personal and mainframe computer applications.
  • Ability to independently resolve problems, multitask, and prioritize in constantly changing conditions.
  • Leadership abilities and a strong willingness to learn and adapt.
  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Preferred experience in the utility industry with a focus on electrical, mechanical, engineering, or operations.

Preferred Skills:
  • Electrical or mechanical background.
  • Strong computer skills, including GIS.
  • Ability to lead, collaborate, and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Maintains a positive attitude during stressful situations.
  • Coachable and open to feedback.

Pay Range: $25 - $28
