Overview
The Principal Business Architect, within the Technology Organization, serves as a senior strategic advisor who bridges business strategy and execution by defining enterprise capability maps, value streams, and transformation roadmaps. This role operates as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, shaping business architecture direction and identifying opportunities to leverage capabilities to drive organizational outcomes.
The Principal Business Architect leads through influence, establishing frameworks, generating strategic insights, and creating actionable workstreams for the broader architecture team. This role ensures alignment between business strategy, operating maps, and technology investments while guiding the adoption of business architecture practices across the enterprise
Responsibilities
- Partner with senior leadership to align business and operational strategy with enterprise architecture
- Define and evolve business capability maps, value streams, and Operating frameworks to support strategic planning
- Identify and generate strategic initiatives and workstreams by analyzing capability gaps, value streams and emerging business needs
- Facilitate discussions and workshops across all business units to align on priorities, capabilities and future state design
- Act as a thought leader and advisor on business architecture and transformation, bringing forward new ideas for leveraging the business capability mapping
- Drive high-impact assessments and solutions that enable enterprise transformation
- Lead assessments and impact analyses to inform decision-making on complex, cross-functional initiatives
- Guide and influence other business architects on the team by setting direction, prioritizing work, and ensuring alignment to enterprise goals
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree and 10 years of experience in Application Development, Systems Engineering, or Information Technology management OR High School Diploma or GED and 14 years of experience in Application Development, Systems Engineering, or Information Technology management
Required Area of Experience: Strategic business architecture or enterprise planning; leading enterprise-level initiatives or transformation programs; stakeholder engagement at senior leadership levels
Preferred: E xperience in the financial services sector; involvement in regulatory change, digital banking, or risk initiatives. Experience with business architecture frameworks (e.g. TOGAF, BIZBOK, BIAN)
