Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Data Scientist with MMIS (Medicaid Management Information System) experience to support analytics, predictive modeling, and data-driven decision-making initiatives within Medicaid healthcare programs. The ideal candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, data engineers, and program teams to analyze large healthcare datasets and generate actionable insights that improve program performance, compliance, and cost optimization.

Key Responsibilities

Analyze large-scale Medicaid and healthcare datasets from MMIS platforms.

Develop predictive and statistical models to identify trends, fraud, waste, abuse, and cost-saving opportunities.

Perform data mining, data cleansing, and transformation activities.

Build machine learning models supporting healthcare analytics initiatives.

Collaborate with business analysts, BI teams, and program stakeholders.

Develop dashboards and analytical reports for operational and executive leadership.

Interpret complex data and present insights in business-friendly formats.

Support federal and state reporting requirements (CMS compliance).

Work with structured and unstructured healthcare data sources.

Ensure data governance, quality, and security standards are followed.

 

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in:

Data Science

Computer Science

Statistics

Mathematics

Healthcare Informatics or related field

6+ years of experience in data analytics or data science roles.

Hands-on MMIS experience (MANDATORY).

Experience working with Medicaid or Healthcare payer systems.

Strong programming skills in:

Python or R

SQL (advanced querying)

Experience with machine learning frameworks.

Strong knowledge of statistical analysis and predictive modeling.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with Gainwell Technologies MMIS modernization projects.

Knowledge of healthcare data standards:

HIPAA

ICD-10

CPT

HL7/FHIR (nice to have)

Experience in Fraud, Waste & Abuse analytics.

Cloud experience (AWS/Azure/Google Cloud Platform).

Soft Skills

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent stakeholder communication.

Ability to translate data insights into business outcomes.

Agile/Scrum environment experience.
