Title: EDA Infrastructure Support Engineer

Location: Bay Area, CA / Austin, TX [ONSITE]

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled HPC Infrastructure and Environment Management Engineer to specialize in EDA (Electronic Design Automation) Infrastructure L1/L2 Support. In this role, you will be the first line of defense ensuring our chip design pipeline runs smoothly. You will actively diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve critical bottlenecks across our compute grid, license management servers, and Continuous Integration (CI) workflows.

Key Responsibilities-

• Compute Grid Management: Monitor, manage, and triage issues within high-performance compute environments (e.g., LSF, Grid Engine, or Slurm) to ensure optimal job scheduling and resource utilization.
• EDA License Triaging: Track, debug, and resolve license checkout failures, denials, and server sync issues for major EDA vendors (Synopsys, Cadence, Siemens/Mentor).
• CI/CD Pipeline Support: Troubleshoot and resolve automated build, test, and simulation failures within our hardware CI infrastructure.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with hardware design engineers, CAD teams, and IT infrastructure to provide rapid root-cause analysis and minimize engineering downtime.

Qualifications & Skills-

Technical Requirements-

• EDA Tools & Workflows: Strong familiarity with semiconductor design flows and backend compute environments.
• Grid Computing: Hands-on experience triaging distributed resource management systems (e.g., IBM Spectrum LSF, Slurm, Altair Grid Engine).
• License Management: Experience managing and debugging FlexLM / FlexNet publisher systems.
• CI/CD Platforms: Proficiency in triaging pipeline disruptions in Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or similar tools.
• Scripting & Automation: Solid scripting skills in Python, Bash, or Perl for automated log analysis and environment checking.

Soft Skills-

• Exceptionally strong problem-solving and rapid debugging skills under pressure.
• Clear communication skills to translate complex infrastructure failures to engineering teams and vendors.
