Role Description
The Enterprise Knowledge Management (EKM) team is responsible for improving the quality, consistency, and usability of enterprise knowledge content across. The EKM Content Modernization Author will support the enterprise-wide transformation of knowledge assets, ensuring content is standardized, searchable, structured, and optimized for future AI-enabled knowledge experiences.
This position will partner with business units, subject matter experts (SMEs), content owners, governance teams, and EKM leadership to review, revise, and modernize existing content. The incumbent will apply established content standards, templates, metadata requirements, taxonomy structures, and plain-language principles to improve content quality and readiness for migration into future knowledge management platform.
Successful candidates will demonstrate strong writing, editing, and organizational skills, with the ability to translate complex business information into clear, accurate, and actionable content.
Review, analyze, and modernize existing procedural, policy, reference, and knowledge content in accordance with EKM standards.
Rewrite and restructure content using approved AI-enabled technologies, templates, content models, style guides, metadata standards, and taxonomy requirements to improve content quality, consistency, and AI readiness.
Collaborate with business unit SMEs and content owners to validate content accuracy, completeness, and business intent.
Ensure content adheres to plain-language and user-centered design principles to improve findability, comprehension, and usability.
Apply metadata, tagging, classification, and content governance standards to support enterprise search and AI-readiness initiatives.
Participate in content inventories, audits, and gap analyses to identify outdated, redundant, or duplicate information.
Align content with established migration requirements and prepare knowledge assets for future platform migration activities.
Support testing, validation, and issue remediation activities associated with content modernization, migration, and knowledge management platform initiatives.
Support quality assurance reviews and remediation activities to ensure published content meets EKM standards.
Track content modernization progress and maintain status reporting for assigned business units and content portfolios.
Identify opportunities to improve content consistency, governance compliance, and end-user experience.
Participate in training, workshops, and content governance activities related to EKM modernization efforts.
Skills & Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Communications, English, Journalism, Technical Writing,
Knowledge Management, Business, Education, or related field, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Experience creating, editing, or managing business, operational, instructional, procedural, or knowledge-based content.
Experience collaborating with subject matter experts to capture and document business processes and procedures.
Experience organizing complex information into concise, easy-to-understand documentation.
Experience working within defined content standards, templates, style guides, or governance frameworks.
Strong editing, proofreading, and quality assurance skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills.
Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously while meeting established deadlines.
Experience using Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint.
Ability to work effectively in cross-functional and matrixed environments.
Experience supporting enterprise content modernization, content migration, or knowledge management initiatives.
Experience with structured authoring, content architecture, metadata management, or taxonomy development.
Experience working in financial services, banking, regulated industries, or large enterprise environments.
Knowledge of knowledge management principles, content governance practices, and enterprise search optimization.
Experience using knowledge management platforms, content management systems, or digital knowledge repositories.
Familiarity with AI-readiness concepts, including content standardization, metadata enrichment, and content quality optimization.
Understanding of user experience (UX) writing and information architecture principles.
