Mechanical Engineer - Consumable Fluidic Devices

We are developing a revolutionary, low-cost single-molecule DNA sequencer that can potentially improve the lives of people in a wide variety of ways, including timely screening for diseases and diagnosis of various cancers by fusing biological and integrated circuit technology.

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support development of consumable fluidic devices at Roche Santa Clara, with an educational and/or professional background in mechanical and/or process engineering. This candidate will be responsible for supporting consumable device components and surface chemistry teams in a variety of activities as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Flowcell manufacturing, process development, and assembly
  • Assist senior engineers with SolidWorks design
  • Perform dimensional and mechanical measurements, including data analysis and reporting
  • Conduct surface metrology and characterization
  • Component testing, quality checks, and visual inspection
  • Sample preparation for external analysis
  • Manage component and subcomponent inventory; prepare shipments and receive materials
  • Support multiple engineering activities in a timely manner to meet project needs
Qualifications and Skills
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related discipline from an accredited institution
  • 0-2 years of professional experience required; hands-on lab experience preferred
  • Knowledge or experience in microfabrication, microfluidics, or materials science is a plus
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks, Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, or equivalent tools required
  • Familiarity with metrology or microscopy equipment is highly desirable.
