Business Analyst

Job Title: Senior Business Analyst / QA Analyst

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst / QA Analyst to support business process improvements, requirements development and software quality assurance. This role works with business stakeholders and technical teams to define requirements, validate system functionality and support successful software releases.

Key Responsibilities

Business Analysis

• Gather, analyze and refine business and technical requirements, user stories, use cases and acceptance criteria.

• Map business processes and workflows; prepare functional specifications, diagrams, reports and user documentation.

• Assess existing practices, system capabilities and controls to identify improvements and resolve requirement gaps.

• Translate policy and operational needs into clear requirements for technical teams.

• Explain technical changes and their business impact to stakeholders.

Quality Assurance and Software Testing

• Develop and execute test plans, scripts and cases for new or modified applications, including regression and integration testing.

• Validate software against documented requirements and quality standards.

• Identify, document, track and retest defects; report test results and resolution status.

• Review application logs, database records and performance data to investigate issues and verify expected behavior.

• Create automated tests and maintain test suites where appropriate.

• Document test coverage, outcomes and corrective actions.

• Coordinate with development teams on defect resolution, release readiness, user acceptance testing and post-implementation validation.

Required Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in software analysis/testing and developing customized test procedures.

• 5+ years of experience in business process analysis, requirements documentation, workflow development and stakeholder communication.

• 5+ years of software QA/testing experience, including test design, execution, defect tracking, reporting and test-result documentation.

• 2+ years of experience in business process design.

• 5+ years of experience with each of the following:

  • Team Foundation Server (TFS)

  • Visual Studio

  • SQL Server

  • Microsoft Project

  • Balsamiq

  • Microsoft Office

  • Legacy systems

• Previous experience working within state, federal and/or local government.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in public-sector Economic Services programs, including Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) or Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF).

• Experience supporting Early Child Care and Education programs.

• Experience working in Agile development environments.

• Experience with test automation.

• Knowledge of enterprise applications and system integrations.
