Position Summary
IRG Clients is seeking an experienced Database Developer (SQL) – Project Lead to support enterprise data management, reporting, and system modernization initiatives. This role will be responsible for leading database development, ETL processes, data warehousing, healthcare data integration, and reporting solutions. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server, T-SQL, SSIS, data modeling, and healthcare/public sector data environments.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership
- Lead data migration and modernization initiatives from legacy systems.
- Collaborate with business users, technical teams, and stakeholders to gather requirements and design solutions.
- Provide project status updates, technical documentation, and effort estimates.
- Participate in planning, testing, deployment, and production support activities.
- Mentor team members and promote database development best practices.
Database Development
- Design, develop, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases.
- Create and optimize stored procedures, views, functions, and complex T-SQL queries.
- Perform database performance tuning and query optimization.
- Support database upgrades, migrations, and environment management.
ETL & Data Integration
- Develop and maintain ETL processes using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
- Build and optimize automated data pipelines.
- Modernize legacy data processing workflows and reporting solutions.
- Monitor and troubleshoot data integration processes.
Reporting & Data Warehousing
- Design and maintain data warehouse solutions and relational database structures.
- Develop reports, dashboards, and analytics solutions using SQL and Power BI.
- Support enterprise reporting and data analysis initiatives.
Healthcare Data Integration
- Process and integrate healthcare data formats including HL7, XML, CSV, and SOAP.
- Support Electronic Case Reporting (eCR) and healthcare data exchange initiatives.
- Integrate data with disease surveillance and public health systems.
Testing & Production Support
- Perform system testing, data validation, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues.
- Implement monitoring solutions to ensure data quality and system reliability.
- Maintain compliance with organizational security and data governance standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
3+ years of experience with:
- Microsoft SQL Server (2016 or higher)
- T-SQL development, stored procedures, and query optimization
- ETL development and data integration
- Data warehousing and relational database design
- Report development and data analysis
- XML processing
1+ year of experience with:
- SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
- HL7 healthcare messaging standards (v2.3.1–v2.5.1)
- Data security standards including HIPAA, PHI, and PII compliance
- Strong troubleshooting, performance tuning, and automation skills.
- Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with large-scale databases and datasets.
- Healthcare, public health, or disease surveillance system experience.
Experience with:
- Power BI
- SAS
- Electronic Case Reporting (eCR)
- LOINC and SNOMED standards
- R and RStudio
- Knowledge of healthcare interoperability and data exchange standards.
- Experience working in government or public sector environments.
