Onsite in Cincinnati, OH

The Senior Data Engineer will design and deliver scalable data solutions that enable secure data management, analytics, and business intelligence for the organization. The role requires proficiency with SQL, a modern programming language, cloud data platforms, and ELT/ETL practices to build reusable pipelines and data models. The engineer will partner with business stakeholders to translate requirements, validate outputs through testing, and support data platforms in production. The work will impact data warehousing, streaming, and analytics across on-premise and cloud environments.

Rate: $64.00 to $74.00/hr. w2

Responsibilities:
  • Work independently with line of business partners to elicit and clarify requirements and translate them into functional designs.
  • Collaborate with technical team members to communicate business needs and align on technical designs.
  • Define clear test acceptance criteria and execute unit and UAT testing to validate accurate outputs.
  • Create and execute SQL scripts for ETL and data testing.
  • Conduct research and development on trends in banking data engineering, architecture, and security.
  • Build CI/CD pipelines, self-service build tools, and automated deployment processes.
  • Evaluate software products and provide documented recommendations.
  • Support and troubleshoot data platforms, including participation in escalated on-call support for critical incidents.
  • Plan and contribute to internal projects including legacy system replacement, monitoring and analytics improvements, tool development, and technical documentation.
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to other team members.
  • Manage and prioritize multiple assignments.

Experience Requirements:
  • Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages such as Java, Python, Go, or Ruby.
  • Business intelligence and data engineering experience.
  • Experience with cloud data build tools such as DBT and Azure services.
  • Cloud data engineering experience.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift.
  • Familiarity with AWS or Azure.
  • Strong SQL skills.
  • 2+ years of Power BI experience including Report Builder, Desktop, and Service (preferred).
  • Experience with Apache Kafka (preferred).
  • Experience with Apache Spark (preferred).
  • Experience with AWS services (preferred).
  • Experience with DB2 (preferred).
  • Experience with Git (preferred).
  • Query optimization skills (preferred).
  • Strong communication skills for audiences across business and technology.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills for data-related issues and solution design.
  • Experience across ETL/ELT, DBT, cloud data (Snowflake, Azure), and Python.
  • Conceptual understanding of big data technologies, metadata management, commercial ETL tools, data visualization and reporting, data warehousing, SQL, data testing, major cloud, or REST API design and development.
  • Experience with SDLC, release management, and project task ownership.

Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Azure certification (preferred).
  • AWS certification (preferred).
