Summary

Description

We are looking for an experienced Senior Business Analyst to join a contract opportunity with potential for a permanent role based in Iowa. In this role, you will work across business, technology, and vendor teams to shape requirements, improve operational workflows, and support delivery for insurance-related products and digital capabilities. This position is ideal for someone who can connect business goals to practical solutions, drive clarity in fast-paced environments, and help ensure new processes and systems are ready for launch.

Candidate with one or more of the 3 listed below will ONLY be considered:
  1. Voluntary Benefits
  2. Supplemental Insurance
  3. Group Benefits

Responsibilities:

Lead discovery sessions with stakeholders, product leaders, operational teams, compliance partners, technical staff, and external vendors to gather and define business needs.

Convert business objectives into detailed documentation such as functional requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, process diagrams, decision logic, and data mapping artifacts.

Maintain end-to-end traceability of requirements throughout analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, and post-launch support activities.

Analyze current workflows and design improved future-state processes across enrollment, policy administration, billing, claims, servicing, reporting, and compliance operations.

Identify operational gaps, process inefficiencies, control considerations, and automation opportunities, then recommend practical improvements that support scalability and readiness.

Define requirements for platforms, digital journeys, mobile applications, integrations, reporting solutions, and downstream business processes, including rules for data validation, workflow behavior, and exception handling.

Collaborate with architects, developers, QA teams, and subject matter experts to clarify system behavior, interface dependencies, source-to-target mappings, and business validation needs.

Support Agile delivery by refining backlog items, preparing sprint-ready stories, participating in planning ceremonies, and helping teams align delivered work with business intent.

Partner with testing teams and business users to develop test scenarios, support UAT and defect resolution, and confirm that functionality, controls, and reporting are production-ready before release.

Act as a central point of coordination across internal teams and external partners by facilitating working sessions, documenting decisions, communicating status, and escalating risks that may affect scope, timelines, quality, or launch readiness.

Requirements

7+ years of experience in business analysis, systems analysis, product analysis, or a related IT delivery role, including ownership of complex cross-functional initiatives.
Demonstrated ability to gather, analyze, document, and manage business and functional requirements in both Agile and structured delivery environments.
Hands-on experience creating user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, gap analyses, traceability documentation, and test support materials.
Background working with insurance products or benefits-related processes, including areas such as enrollment, claims, policy servicing, or supplemental coverage.
Familiarity with Agile Scrum practices and participation in sprint planning, backlog refinement, testing support, and release preparation.
Ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, including product teams, operations, compliance groups, developers, QA, and vendors.
Experience supporting UAT and business validation activities, with strong attention to detail around issue tracking, readiness, and expected outcomes.
Working knowledge of data analysis concepts and tools such as Microsoft SQL Server is preferred.
